I would think so too.
And people who paid out of pocket and in full, get a nice refund, correct? We depleted our savings and retirement to put our son through college and are behind. We are owed a refund. Pay up.
Fake Injun Squaw buying more votes with our tax money
Yet another “Welfare Cliff.”
To loaf or not to loaf, that will be the question. And you’ll need an accountant to help you decide.
The Left is all about—and always has been largely about—punishing human achievement. It is a reflection of all that is base in human motivation; seeking to tear down those who show the way forward, those who aspire to achieve at a higher level.
Put the peace pipe down pocahontas.
Unless you work a government job, then you will be exempted for doing public service.
Everything I have read said do not use your retirement money to pay for your kids college.
I know. Too late.
The money wasn’t from a 401K but we were going to use the cash to retire on.
Imagine no college. No tuition, too.
No student loans to pay off.
The education racket through.
Imagine all the students
Learning how to think...
I’d sure like to have a Harvard professor explain to me why the federal government should pay off $12,000 in student loans of somebody making $100,000/year.
“about colleges keeping costs under control”
Academics, you’re going to get taught a lesson.
Obama’s mortgage reform proposal was much more sensible.
People in too much mortgage debt (and behind in their payments, i.e. Obama voters) might have their mortgages reduced if their mortgage lender agreed to take principal and interest haircuts.
“Would Punish”
Refusing to hand out electoral bribes isn’t a form of punishment.
“Loans for school programs” should be to the school secured by school real estate and repaid by the graduates via income sharing arrangements.
The UK income-based repayment model is defective in that the schools aren’t on the hook for the debt too.
“because we’re paying for this out of the two cent wealth tax”
The Supreme Court may block her wealth tax based on the direct tax proportionality requirement that many here feel still applies.
At a $50 million wealth tax threshold, I’m not aware of any practical proportionality requirement workaround.
And when 250K a year doesn’t work they will move the goal posts to say 150K, then 100K, then 75K, and eventually everybody will be in the net.
Exactly like the income tax system was sold to the public. Only those at the top will pay! LYING BASTARDS! THE WHOLE LOT!
$12,000? Where are you getting that number? In today’s world that might pay for one quarter’s worth of classes, not counting books, room and board...
This is beyond disgusting. This is just more Democrat-initiated class warfare. If you work hard, do well in school, pick a difficult major that lands you a job, and then are good enough at your job such that you get paid an excellent salary, you get nothing - except the wonderful right to pay taxes.
On the other hand, if you do gender studies, or some similarly inane and less demanding but politically correct major, and don’t make a good salary, you are rewarded.
This lying, self-promoting, POS who only wants to see her name in lights and who didn’t compete fairly in what passes as a meritocracy is declaring war on those who work hard and play by the rules.
Only to start - she'll get the rest of us eventually. :)
