'A bad look': Vindman's testimony while in uniform divides military community
Washington Examiner ^ | 8 November 2019 | Russ Read

Alexander Vindman’ s testimony in the House impeachment proceeding has stirred controversy among military members and veterans, some who view the Army lieutenant colonel as a patriot who is being unfairly targeted and others who think he is politicizing the military.

Vindman, the National Security Council’s top Ukraine expert, was thrust into the political spotlight when he testified before Congress on Oct. 29 as one of the few people who listened in on a July phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

His appearance in uniform has been a point of contention for some. Military members detailed to the NSC typically wear suits, though Vindman gave his testimony in uniform.

“This is a bad look for him to be in uniform," an active duty military officer stationed at the Pentagon told the Washington Examiner. "He makes it look like the Army is behind this. Like the Army is pushing a coup."

Another officer was concerned that Vindman’s testimony veered too much into personal assessment.

“I don't care what he thinks, he's entitled to his opinion," the officer said. "But it's an opinion and he should give it without the uniform."

I see that I am not the only one who noticed that “decorated” epithet, which they always use for the ones they are pushing.

Same Media trick they use with judicial Democrat tyranny.

"A Federal judge today ruled..." - without mentioning that the judge in question is an 0bama appointee who is a card-carrying member of the Communist and Democrat parties.

Not to be worshipped, but to imply his word is not to be questioned.

It was a stunt.

His wearing a uniform is wrong whether it be blues or green service. To me, he is thumbing his nose at the US Army and the USA. The position he “serves in” requires suit and tie.
The uniform stunt is uncalled for and in bad taste.
All of my military buddies agree that the show is “not about him or the Army. Dress properly.”

He obviously had permission to wear the uniform. I don’t really have an issue with it. All of this relates directly to his job in the Army. I may disagree with what he did, but he has the right to wear it.

Sadly, some vets and active duty military fail to understand the gravity of the oath. I got it then and I get it now.

Everyone in uniform that’s pro-Vindman needs a bit o’ the old inquisition on ‘em. Clintonistas and Obamabots.

There’s no way in hell a legit military officer or senior NCO believes a military officer should have a single solitary thing to say about the POTUS’s policy decisions in a public venue or go blabbing about a private head of state to head of state conversation.

That’s stand against a wall offense right there.

The Army discontinued the green service uniform in 2015. It was replaced with the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU). They are planning to switch to a new version of the “pinks and greens” next year (2020).

"We're going to have to assume from now on that the military is in on the coup against the President."

The way Obama politicised the military with his perfumed princes, that is a thought that may have crossed some FReeper minds.

Col. North was an active duty officer working in a military chain of command and testified to his actions as directed by his superiors.

This dirtbag was not working in that capacity, was working as a political appointee for a political appointee and NOT representing the military service.

If he had authorization to appear in dress uniform from his immediate commanders and to testify on a political issue then the commanders should be questioned. As far as is known, he had no authorization to take part in or testify regarding a political issue. Brennan is not in his chain of command.

Matt Zeller, an Afghanistan veteran and fellow at the American Security Project, defended Vindman.
.
“I think he’s a patriot, and how he’s been treated is an abomination,” Zeller told the Washington Examiner. “All he is is a public servant doing his duty.”
.
The uniform issue is the result of Vindman’s critics being afraid of what he had to say, Zeller said. “That’s just a bunch of people trying to make bullshit out of nothing."

Matt Zeller is a consultant in Washington, DC.

He is the author of Watches Without Time (Just World Books, 2012), a vivid description of what he experienced while serving as an embedded combat adviser with the Afghan security forces in Ghazni, Afghanistan, in 2008.

Matt is a Captain in the US Army Reserve and a former officer of the Central Intelligence Agency. He was the Democrat candidate for Congress in 2010 in NY’s 29th Congressional District.

Yeah, the "military" is divided all right.

If this guy doesn’t like the President’s policies, he needs to resign, retire, or request reassignment. Period—full stop.
