Sometimes? Seems more and more frequent. Anyway, I propose they do a 42 gun salute next year for missing it this year in their quest to be all pc and woke and stuff. Dumbasses.

Always always happens when they put their foot in their mouth only to find out later that it was a stupid thing to do. Then apologize. Yeah? Really?

Oh, we made a mistake!

But NEXT year - yeah, NEXT year we'll have it - unless a bunch of snot-nose snowflakes whine about it... then we'll, uh.. think about it.

Sheesh.

There was a bugle playing taps and a 21 gun salute at my father’s burial.

Standing there in the cold, I remember the silence before and after. It was heartbreaking.

Why not just make an announcement that there will be 5 minutes of silence at 10 AM for those who served our country? And have the 21 gun salute at 10:01? problem solved!

Why wait until next year? Do a 21-gun salute on December 7, Pearl Harbor day.

Same at my father’s funeral. I appreciated it, and the young men who performed it, very much. It’s pretty much all I remember of that day.

Why a 21 Gun Salute in the first place?

I hate it when morons confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. I hate it. My church used to ask all who served in the Military to stand and be recognized. On Memorial Day.

Sheesh.

I don’t think a 21 Gun Salute is applicable on Veterans Day. Maybe so. But not having such a salute is not offensive or wrong.

Been there, done that nineteen years ago. I still remember it like yesterday.

Go ahead and make my temper explode.

WHY did they NOT do it this year?

As CNSNews.com reported on Veterans Day, November 11, 2019, the University of Virginia (UVA) had cancelled its tradition of honoring fallen veterans with a 21-gun salute on Veterans Day, citing concerns that it will disrupt classes and frighten students.

More on the 21 Gun Salute....

Today, the U.S. military fires a 21-gun salute in honor of a national flag, the sovereign or chief of state of a foreign nation, a member of a reigning royal family, and the president, ex-presidents and president-elect of the United States. The 21-gun salute is also fired at noon on George Washington’s birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and the day of the funeral of a president, ex-president or president-elect.

Yes, we should honor veterans. But not this way.

I was mistaken; this must have been what they did at my dad’s funeral:

“The 21-gun salute is not to be confused with the three-volley salute (or three-rifle volley) rendered at military honors funerals, which you might see or hear at Arlington National Cemetery.”

See my posts 11 and 14.

I may be wrong. (Usually am). But I don’t think a 21 Gun Salute is appropriate on Veterans Day.

Correct me if I’m wrong - flame away - etc.
