Yep.. I listed to Dr. Laura 12 years ago until she was kicked off radio.. She was/is Brilliant! I believe she is on XM/SIRIUS now.
She was correct.
It’s a thousand times easier to get a “psychologist” degree than it is to make it in broadcasting.
I always thought Dr. Toni Grant was a Hottie, way back when.
Something in her voice.
I’ll have to Google her and see if she is still breathing.
Agree! My family jokes about her ‘tough love’, but people need it.
Basically, and this isn’t far off. She’ll get a caller saying something like “My husband is sleeping with another women, what now?” She’ll saying like “What did YOU do to make him seek out other women?” After the astonishment on the part of the caller, she’ll drill-in, until getting to the answer (usually something like treating him like crap or blimping out, or both).
The one show I will never forget was when she read a letter from a man who admittedly was having an affair. He described the emotional pain of being married to a woman who refused to have sex with him; and when she did have sex with him, it was only to manipulate him into giving her something she wanted.
After reading that letter, one of Dr. Laura’s first questions to women calling in about their husbands having a affair was, “How easy is it for your husband to have sex with you?” Her point was that a woman who withholds sex from her husband can be a big part of the reason the husband went outside the marriage for sex and some respect.
Yep; I heard the called that led Dr. Laura to start asking those type of questions.
I remember 20 years ago when she cried on the air when she realized that people born Jewish did not really accept her converted to Judaism status. Always thought she was needlessly mean to sad, confused people that called her for advice. Was happy when she was dropped from my local conservative station.
I remember taking a good long look at the doctor a few years ago.
Don't seem to recall much about the eyes, however.
I’ve never heard of her, so googling doesn’t make any sense to me.
I miss Dr Laura, since she left AM radio.
Dave Ramsey has partially filled her void, at list in the personal financial area.
