It’s wasn’t a bad theory. It’s like speculating whether someone holding a gun to their heads would actually dare to pull the trigger, and well, they did.

They went all in blind with the whistleblower, turned out they had a off suit 2-7 and thought they could bluster their way into a winning hand. It didn’t work, but they’ve now concluded that the humiliation of backtracking now would be worse than the political blowback of pursuing this folly. They might be right on that, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a horrible choice from their perspective.

I disagree on your theory of Pelosi cutting Donks loose though since the legitimacy of impeachment directly correlates to the number of yea votes. It’s not Husseincare where it’s law either way, and that’s that. Their lunatic base demands impeachment, and vulnerable Donks will arguably be just as vulnerable if they vote no.
