IIRC on election night in 2016 in NYC or at least Times Square once it became apparent Trump had won the scene was quite muted. I think the nets were hoping for a New Years Eve scene if Hillary had won but well we know what happened. It was strangely quiet that night in NYC. Oh a bit of sobbing at the Javits Center of course.
