All of the presidential candidates who qualified for next week’s Democratic debate are threatening to skip the event in response to a labor dispute taking place at the debate venue, Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), businessman Andrew Yang, former vice president Joe Biden, billionaire activist Tom Steyer, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg said Friday they would refuse to cross picket lines in solidarity with Unite Here Local 11, which represents food service workers at the university who have been negotiating for a collective bargaining agreement.
“UniteHere11 is fighting for better wages and benefits — and I stand with them,” Warren tweeted Friday afternoon. “The DNC should find a solution that lives up to our party’s commitment to fight for working people. I will not cross the union’s picket line even if it means missing the debate.”
Sanders and Yang followed shortly afterward with their own vows.
“We must live our values and there is nothing more core to the Democratic Party than the fight for working people,” Yang tweeted.
Within a few hours, Biden, Steyer, Klobuchar and Buttigieg had followed suit with public statements in support of the union.

Remaining will be Tulsi Gabbard (assuming she does her customary 180 and decides to attend) and Marianne Williamson. It’ll be flaky and weird as ever, but at least easier on the eyes.
Come on Dems, show real solidarity with the US working class, resign from politics all together.

It seems we are at a stalemate. Everyone knows the debate is a complete waste of time, and no one is going to "break out" until a top 3 candidate is somehow eliminated. Every time they debate, they highlight the unlimited trillions of dollars they want to print and spend, and that scares the electorate. With the exception of Biden, they are being forced so far to the left, there will be no way to get back anywhere near the center. This is a convenient excuse to skip the debate while appearing 'down with the cause'.
Personally, I'd like to see Bernie go after Biden on Burisma. He could destroy him live on stage, call him corrupt to the core and likely destroy his campaign. Only Bernie could pull it off, but for his sacrifice, Warren would make him her VP.
There is a dem debate scheduled? Sorry that I can’t watch as I have to sort my socks and fold my underwear that day.
Hypocrites, the place has a HVAC system, it is destroying the environment. Debates must be held outside in nature.
Nice way to get out of showing an all white democrat debate.
Party of the working people - laughable. Party of Chinese slave labor is more like it.
And keep the only black man down. Booker was trying really hard to raise funds and looking forward to this debate. He’ll probably be out before the next one.
