CONYERS — Rockdale County investigators are trying to determine the circumstances in what appears to be a violent home invasion Tuesday night. The incident left the female homeowner wounded. Deputies also believe a suspect was shot as well.
According to 11Alive News, Sheriff Eric Levett was at the scene on Tuesday night on Lost Valley Drive in Conyers. He said deputies received a call sometime after 6 p.m. about a person shot. When they arrived they found the injured woman.
“She indicated that two black males entered her residence by way of kicking in her front door,” Levett said. “She somehow made it to her bedroom to take cover and locked herself inside the bedroom.”
However, the suspects ran up the stairs and kicked in that door as well.
“Shots were fired,” Levett said. “We don’t know if she shot first or if the suspect or suspects shot first.”
The woman was shot twice, the sheriff said. They believe she struck one of the men. Authorities said the suspects left the scene after the exchange of gunfire.

Her story might be true, or it might be made up to cover up what she was really up to. Since there was a recent home invasion nearby, it is to obvious explanation to give if you don’t want to tell the truth.
The police were not born yesterday, and hear this kind of thing all the time.
Having a couple of doors kicked in may help to clarify what happened, depending on the damage to those doors.

As a kid I used to mow a lawn of a retired sheriff. He carried in the home, he had pistols stashed in just about every room. And this was in the late 60’s.
That woman was very fortunate to be able to make it to her weapon and hunker down.

If you’re local, like I am, lots of info came out that he may not be as law abiding as they made him out to be.
As someone that used to investigate these crimes, rarely, are they random.
Perps are looking for something. Sometimes it’s a person, sometimes it’s cash or some other commodity, sometimes drugs, or sometimes a combo of either and all.
I doubt any cop/detective in the country could give you more than a few of these that have involved completely innocent victims.
If you’re familiar with Conyers, there isn’t any other way to describe what happens there, for the most part.
I’m not saying it’s not true. It’s just that the police have to verify or disprove that’s really what happened.

How would you word it? “After” as in any other use of the word - after the fire, after the accident, after the tornado, after dinner..........
Simply omitting the word “after” would have made it correct.

What are you even talking about? Sober up! Atlanta is rampant with home invasions. Its an epidemic here. We have had numerous home invasions in our neighborhood. We have guns everywhere in the house. My best friend has had two home invasions. They live in a mcmansion Metro Atlanta is crime central. Everybody and their brother carries here.
She better move. They and their bros will be back for revenge.

True and we are all going to grow old before our time (HA - I’m already there) trying to dissect what any writer means. I know I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what something means.
Just this morning I was having difficulty with the story about the Army/Navy game and the gal in the SC legislature who jumped to conclusions about some stupid gesture. If you read it, you’ll see what I mean - seemed to be contradictory to me. It was harmless but it needed to be taken seriously!! Seriously?
Reading is my hobby and I like things to make sense when I read. I check out several books at a time at the library and when I start reading one that doesn’t make sense, back in the pile it goes and I pick up another one. For example introducing 12 -15 characters in the first chapter - as if anyone can absorb who and what they are! Like I said in the beginning - I’m old and don’t have time for nonsense!!
