ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The leaders of Cyprus, Greece and Israel plan to sign an agreement early in the new year for the building of the eastern Mediterranean natural gas pipeline, the Greek prime minister’s office announced Sunday.

The agreement will be signed in Athens on Jan. 2 by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As now planned, the pipeline will run across the Mediterranean from Israel’s Levantine Basin offshore gas reserves to the Greek island of Crete and the Greek mainland, and then to Italy.

Little known fact: the last Roman historian was a Greek from Antioch who spoke and wrote in Latin.

Ammianus Marcellinus was the last great historian of antiquity. A pagan living in a Christian world.

Many classical Roman works are actually by Greeks and other non-Latins who were Roman citizens and so had Romanized names.

Yes, the Obama Deep State seems to have targeted George Papadopoulos over this (he was promoting this idea).

Wow, pretty serious notch on his belt. The article says that 10% of Europe’s natural gas demand will be met with this pipeline, so it’s not exactly a PEX hose in someone’s attic (piece of crap, they are).

Future news -- the European Commission bans the use of natural gas, would rather EU citizens eat their food raw as they freeze to death than to accept the existence of Israel. /jk

That’s right. The straight between Israel and Cyprus belonged to the Palestinians from time immemorial. The fart bubbles of a million bathers over the millennia accumulated and created this resource for Israelis to exploit. Granted, the bathers were trying to invade Cyprus and tear down Limenos Castle, but Cyprus was occupied territory, too, and most of it still is. Byzantine/shmyzantine. Greek/shmeek./s

I’ve tried to understand Josephus in the original Greek, but it’s much more complicated linguistically than I can manage. Aristophanes is easier and fun.

That would explain Darfur and Mogadishu, all right. Darfur has oil. Mogadishu has access to the Red Sea, and is right across from the Arabian Peninsula.
