The pastor of the man who allegedly stabbed five Jewish people during a Hanukkah celebration on Saturday night in Monsey, New York said that he had been suffering from mental illness for years and is not a terrorist.

Grafton E Thomas, 37, of Greenwood Lake, pleaded not guilty after he was arraigned on five counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary in Ramapo Town Court late Sunday morning. His bail was set at $5million.

He is accused of stabbing five people in a rabbi's home during a Hanukkah celebration in a predominantly Jewish town in upstate New York on Saturday night.

Reverend Wendy Paige of the Hudson Highlands Cooperative Parish said on Sunday: 'Grafton is not a terrorist, he is a man who has mental illness in America and the systems that be have not served him well.'

Denial is a river in Egypt. I note that this pastor sounds like Michelle Obama. If Thomas wrapped a scarf around his face, as described in the article, it would be hard not to consider that he was emulating a muzzie. Yes, people can be insane and not violent and then all of a sudden get violent, but the violence has meaning, it is not just something in the air. My asumption is that he is picking up a lot of negativity from those around him.

It would not be a hard sell to say that most terrorists are insane, though not all insane people are terrorists.

Also most terrorists are also muslim.

Lock up the crazies. The criminally insane cannot be held legally accountable for their actions so therefore they should be with a legal guardian at ALL times.

Banning guns won’t prevent machete attacks.

Locking up crazies will.

‘Grafton is not a terrorist, he is a man who has mental illness in America and the systems that be have not served him well.’

For the past 50 years the Left (some of whom have been institutionalized themselves) have sought to release the mentally ill, CELEBRATE their illnesses (gender dysphoria), and require others to change their own thinking to agree with the insane.

Kate Millett (founder of NOW) said that there was no such thing as “crazy” it was just society unwilling to accept challenges to conventional thinking.

The Left WANTS chaos in the streets.

Most people with mental illnesses do not single out people of a specific religion to attack with a machete. Unless, of course, the mental illness is Islam.

Well Miss Wendy, how about we have someone attack you with a machete, and see if you don’t feel some terror.

We used to institutionalize people

It’s long been time to bring that back

It’s figured that roughly 1.2-percent (around 3-million) of American society has some form of Paranoid Schizophrenia. At any given point, some ‘trigger’ can occur, and the guy or gal can go into some rage episode with intent to kill.

If someone can demonstrate this guy has been under some clinical care in the past decade, then I’m open to believing he’s just a plain nutcase.

We, as a nation, really need to eliminate the idiotic defense of "not guilty by reason of insanity". You most certainly CAN be guilty AND insane. If you are insane, you should be entitled to mental health treatment while you serve your sentence. You should not escape justice just because you are crazy.

You can’t stab someone with a machete, you can only hack and slash. Why can’t the media get this straight?

Oh, so it’s America’s fault then.

A shocking development.

Not guilty by reason of drunk/drugs isn’t a defense.

The prosecutors will say that you were mentally incapacitated and shouldn’t have been operating machinery or in public or holding a gun etc.
