Australia’s rampant and destructive wildfires were started by arson, and fueled by dry conditions and high temperatures, but you’d never know it from the Golden Globes or mainstream media outlets.
In November, a teenage volunteer firefighter from New South Wales was charged with setting 7 bushfires in the region, and then returning with his brigade to fight them. Apparently, he has set 17 fires, and the pyromaniac has now been barred from access to any firefighting equipment.

Police arrested 183 people for lighting bushfires across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania in the past few months. NSW police data shows 183 people have been charged or cautioned for bushfire-related offences since November 8, and 24 arrested for deliberately starting bushfires.”

It’s like any other fear-mongering by the left. Step one is to hysterically predict that a horrible consequence will occur unless some step is taken to drastically curtail freedom. Step two is to cause horrible consequence to occur if it fails to materialize as a result of embracing freedom. So “anthropogenic climate change” is supposed to cause more fires, and dedicated leftists set fires to make the prediction come true.
It kind of makes me nervous that they are so frantically claiming that WWIII will result from taking out the Iranian terrorist mastermind. What are the leftists going to do to ensure this war happens?

I have no doubt that there are Muzzies and Greeners with Bic lighters starting many of these fires, but weeks of dry windy 110° days plays the important role. This weather may simply be an aberration, a cyclical occurrence, or an example of ongoing climate change, man made or naturally occurring. Whatever the cause, this is catastrophic.
As Batman's aide,Michael Caine,once told him "some men just want to see the world burn". That sounds like wise advice too.
Given enough fuel and favorable weather, ie for a fire, combustion is a certainty with only the source and timing as unknowns. So better to frequently burn small amounts, then risk a conflagration.
Remember “burning off” roadsides and fields? It was an annual event in many places. Until the Progs spoiled it.
OK folks, I am a man-made Climate Change skeptic myself.
But let’s look at this more clearly — were the ORIGINAL Bushfires caused by these arsonists? Or was it caused by the extremely hot weather?
It could be that the original Bushfires were containable but these arsonists actually EXACERBATED the catastrophe by deliberately lighting even more fires.

I lived in Australia for several years.
It gets hot as blazes in the Summer there—which is right now.
They keep talking about temperatures over 40C, which is about 104 F, and really that’s not unusual at all in December and January.
The summer of 82/3 was really, really bad, with an equal number of bush fires, dust storms, a terrible drought and very high temperatures.
Also, most Australians live in the big cities/suburbs, but for those who live rurally, they really are just like American rednecks. They’ll burn trash, because there is no garbage collection beyond the black stump, and even have a fire to cook on. I’ll bet most of these arrests/charges are outdoor burning when the government said not to, and got out of hand.
I live in Alabama now, and runaway trash fires happen from time-to-time, and not everyone gets the word about a burn ban (although they should be able to figure out when the weather’s been dry!).

At that rate : 200 arsonists might start 4,000 new fires ?
Plus the arsonists not yet caught.
