Trump mocks Democrats' push for notice before further military action on Iran

TOLEDO, Ohio — President Donald Trump mocked the legal requirement that Congress give consent before the United States can engage in armed conflicts, alleging Thursday that Democrats would leak sensitive national security information if it were shared with them.

At his first campaign rally of 2020 in the crucial battleground state of Ohio, Trump said he hadn't had time to call Speaker Nancy Pelosi before the killing of Iranian Gen. Soleimani, adding that "she is not operating with a full deck now." He then acted out a parody of how House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff might leak the planned killing of Soleimani to reporters.

"Schiff is a big leaker, you know, he leaks like crazy," Trump said, claiming that Democrats "want us to tell them so that they can leak it to their friends in the corrupt media."

Trump also took fresh aim on Thursday at a 2020 rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who has consistently remained near the top of Democratic presidential primary polling. The Trump campaign ratcheted up its focus on Sanders this week, blasting two back-to-back emails labeling the senator a "wealthy, fossil-fuel guzzling millionaire" who "can't be trusted to defend American lives."

Although Trump often refers to Sanders as "crazy Bernie," he has previously reserved his most stinging attacks for Democrats like former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. But on Thursday, he slammed Sanders several times, attacking the senator's health care plan and his criticism of how the Soleimani killing was carried out while seeking to paint him as a leader of the Democratic Party.

"Democrats are taking their cues from socialist Bernie Sanders," along with the group of freshman women in the House known as "the squad," Trump said. "They're the leaders of the party."

Can you imagine if in WWII, this congress was informed early of D-Day?

They can keep secrets if they want to. If the Squad, Bernie, Warren, and Mayor Peter had been informed of Pearl Harbor, they would not have told anyone in time.

If there are troops already there, the president doesn’t need Congress to act in their defense. It was Congress that put them in Iraq in the first place.

The president is right to expose the treason of the Dems by saying that they would leak any presidential plan they disagreed with to the UNfree press.

That would result in the deaths of many Americans.

President Trump has the Dems and thelr evil presstitutes by the short hairs.

Listen to them all SCREAM.

I love it.

i look forward to the presiden t splatting the next Terrorist Leader who dares raise his head above ground in Iraq.

China, Russia, North Korea, take notice.

If you note the authors are apparently unaware of what the War Powers Act of 1973 says. This “ you cant do that” culture is to lazy to look at the facts or don’t want to believe what is cast in stone. It is all about I-ME and their heart string tugging pleas. Thankfully the internet with all its bias you can still sort through the wheat and chaff to find the real answers.

Yes they can keep secrets
We still do not know where obama was during the 12 hours of the benghazi massacre when Valerie Jarrett was acting for the WH
We still dont know who took Air Force One on a joy ride over NYC retracing the final moments of the 911 hijackers
We still dont know why Iran had to receive billions in cash US dollars via air pallet,. No ATMs?

One of the lemmas of the multiverse is: “Tell a Democrat, tell the enemy.”

Heh, waiting for the studies crowd to figure out what a lemma is. Hint, it’s not that insurance company’s new token animal.

Good for Trump. And all very true.

The Democrats are proving that they cannot be trusted with Iran by apologizing to Iran or blaming the United States. It is very possible that some of the slimy Democrats might notify Iran of an eminent attack to hurt Trump and thereby resulting in US casualties. I am sure that Democrats would acted appalled at my suggestion.

However, do feel really bad saying this about the Democrats but history has proven me right with the huge number of leaks since Trump has been POTUS.

President Donald Trump mocked the legal requirement that Congress give consent before the United States can engage in armed conflicts...

What legal requirement before armed conflicts?

The War Powers Act gives the President a 48-hour window AFTER committing troops to notify Congress.

It also gives the President the power to commit troops without prior consent  during "a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces," which happened after Iran proxies attacked our embassy and killed an American contractor.

Trump could have even more fun with this low IQ bunch because they will believe anything negative that comes out.

I heard a rumor that Trump intends to nuke the House when they are in Session and end this problem. Now spread that and see how many dems show up for work.
