Statement from the Press Secretary on Supreme Court Victory [Immigrants cannot be public charge / SCOTUS growing weary of District Courts issuing nationwide injunctions]
whitehouse.gov ^ | January 27, 2020 | White House Press Secretary

Today’s stay from the Supreme Court is a massive win for American taxpayers, American workers, and the American Constitution. This decision allows the Government to implement regulations effectuating longstanding Federal law that newcomers to this country must be financially self-sufficient and not a “public charge” on our country and its citizens. Two courts of appeals had already ruled that the Government should be able to implement these regulations, but one single district judge’s nationwide injunction remained. As two Justices pointed out today, the expanding practice of district courts entering nationwide injunctions raises real problems about the proper power of a judge to decide only the case before him or her.

More significant is that the Supreme scourge is growing weary of District Courts issuing nationwide injunctions.

This is how it used to be. When my family ancestors came here through Ellis, they had to have money, prove they had a place to stay, had someone here that would vouch for them, and have a job lined up. they also had to not have certain diseases, like typhoid, or a few other nasties. Failing these conditions they would have been denied entry.

It’s not a burden for immigrants to prove they will not be an automatic burden on the country they are wanting to immigrate to.

Mexico won’t take broke and diseased Americans as citzens, and most other world countries won’t either.

The House can impeach a federal judge with a simple majority vote. We need to take back the House and start opening up some positions.

Also we need to get smaller inferior courts under control.

a district judge does not have the power to create a narionwide ban/stay on ANY piece of law. district judges have jurisdicition FOR ONLY THEIR DISTRICT. The appelates only have jurisdiction in their own circuits, not any other circuits.

WE NEED TO STOP RECOGNIZING these unconstitutional bans. they are not nationwide and these smaller courts do not have nationwide authority. They were never given nationwide authority.

According to my mother, my kin settled in Philadelphia area because back in the day the Quakers considered it an act of Christian charity to act as a sponsor for an incoming immigrant. Basically to vouch for them so they could come in, though in this case they didn’t really know them. So they were a living loophole. But still, the rule was there.

In the late 50s, my mother’s best friend came to visit from England. After she returned home, she decided she wanted to move here. My parents had to sponsor her. They had to promise to support her until she found employment and also agreed to pay for any housing, food, and medical needs that arose. She lived with us while she obtained US credentials in the career she had in England and then until she got established. I have no problem with a return to those standards for admission to our country.

The local Methodist Church sponsored some families from South Vietnam in the town where I lived in NC. They provided housing, English classes, and helped with employment.

Jim, the man has the mental capacity and vision of a once in a lifetime leader. I expected only his push back on Freedom to Say What You Think in Whatever Words You Want To Use, but this end of giveaways to illegals was not even on the horizon. I never blamed the Mexicans for using our hospitals for free or signing up for all the freebies; I always blamed our Welfare Statist politicians who enticed unethical poor people in order to insure endless D voters, e.g., current Commie Calif. legislature and governor.

In the late 1990s, I had to sign a similar statement before the US Embassy would issue a visa to Mrs. VanShuyten.

Those were different times, when the US attracted the best and brightest from around the world (and they in turn made this country great). Today we are importing anyone who will simply fill the voids created by our shrinking population - in housing, public schools, and businesses (as customers in all three cases - let the taxpayers foot the bill).

Elites need populations to rule, and Americans haven’t been providing a next generation - so the Third World will.
