[[[The staff, the ad spending, the campaigning — Michael Bloomberg was going to do all of this to defeat President Donald Trump already. Doing it as a ‘candidate’ excempts him from limits on PACs and political donations.]]]
Yes indeed.
Interesting.
Finally figure that out, did you?
nope not scared one bit- country is doing great- there’s no reason why Trump shouldn’t win again- bloomberg aint gonna change that fact one bit- no matter how much money he throws at it- economy is booming- unemployment is way way down- businesses are booming- bloomberg can’t change that-
I see his ads on facebook all the time.I look at the comments.Pretty much all can’t stand him.
My theory is that he wants the Trump campaign to spend millions now to refute his campaign thereby weakening the Trump campaign’s ability to compete in the general election
Mini-Bloomberg is a Soros wannabe.
If this is how he wants to spend his money, let it be. I must see a Bloomberg ad at least five times a day. Even if I only knew what the ads told me about him, and nothing more, I would still be convinced that he is an utterly narcissistic dork.
I’ve seen the ads. I think he’s attempting to do a variation of Ross Perot.
Tom Steyer doing the same thing. Candidates have guaranteed access to ads at same rates and frequencies of any other candidate.
Guys who run PACs can get rich taking commissions on premium priced advertising and kickbacks from the media. Also more anonymity for PAC contributors.
it is ideas that win elections, not always the money.
Hillary! is the latest example.
The idea Bloomberg is doing this to scrounge up discounts for ads against Trump is BS. The guy is worth $50b dollars. These discounts are chump change. He spent $225m running in his 3 NYC mayoral terms. He did the NYC mayoral thing for the same reason that Trump ran for president. Being a major politician wins you a lot more fame than being a rich guy ever will. Marcus Crassus was probably the richest Roman, ever. But if he hadn’t also been a Roman consul, no one would ever have heard of him.
What he’s doing: it’s not working.
A lot of people run campaigns for visibility for their issues, not expecting to win. Bloomberg is no different in that regard, only thing different is the amount of money he has to spend.
But he can’t spend like that forever, and when he does spend, his hoarded wealth goes back into the economy and guess who gets credit for that?
No one who supports Trump now is listening to anyone who doesn’t. No one who opposes Trump now is listening to anyone who supports him. The only question is how many people are in the middle, and I think the answer is very few, so the election might as well be held today as in November, the result would be the same.
Remember the good old days when the mantra was “we need to get the money out of Politics”?
Look. Hitlery and the Democrats spent $700 Million in 2016.
She still lost.
This year? There is no one evenly remotely nearly as electable as she was.
Let Bloomingidiotberg spend his billions. Go for it.
Soda Boy is angling for the VP slot with Biden in a brokered convention. As the other crazies are forced out due to poor performance and lack of funds, Soda Boy has the resources to stay in the race to the end and gets a bump each time another crazy drops out. The hope of the DNC is that even if the Angry Berd wins a plurality of votes, the combined totals of Creepy Corrupt Joe and Soda Boy are greater then Angry Berd so there is your brokered convention and compromise ticket. Bloomberg can then spend to oblivion which positions him to replace the Clinton machine, and even rival the 0zer0 machine. Bloomberg is playing a longer bigger influence game here to control the DNC long term.
