Ukrainian Political Shake-up Involves Figures in U.S. Impeachment

MOSCOW — Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, fired his chief of staff Tuesday in a personnel shake-up affecting central figures on the Ukrainian side of the events leading to the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

The shuffle in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, offered fresh evidence of how deeply entangled Ukrainian and American politics have become.

The new chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, negotiated last summer with Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, as Giuliani and Trump pressured Ukraine to start investigations that would benefit Trump politically. Yermak, who at the time was a senior presidential adviser on foreign policy, has sought to maintain good ties with the Trump administration.

The man he replaced, Andriy Bohdan, a former lawyer for oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, reportedly became chief of staff last year over Giuliani’s objections. Giuliani was at odds with Kolomoisky at the time but later pivoted to working with Kolomoisky associates in his search for evidence against Trump’s political enemies.

Yet the shake-up appears to have more to do with Ukraine’s internal workings — specifically, a growing clash between Zelenskiy’s administration and Kolomoisky, a billionaire with oil, television and real estate holdings who was implicated in a major banking scandal.

“as Giuliani and Trump pressured Ukraine to start investigations that would benefit Trump politically.”

In common parlance this is called a LIE. But the NYT thrives on such.

Pelosi, Schiff and that crew were in the area last year, probably telling the Ukrainians to ignore Trump because he would be impeached, and thrown out of office.

I think we’ll see more international co-operation now.

Ukraine is fully owned by Soros and Democrats.
No way they would cooperate with Trump administration in any meaningful way. Zelensky’s fawning before Trump is not a sign of any policies it is just exposing Zelensky’s nature as a weak butt-kisser. He generally kisses the biggest and most powerful butt he sees at the moment.
With all things exposed all they did is replaced AG installed by Biden (with the trusted ally and a deputy of a former one - what a joke!) and also sentenced their FBI head who was caught wiretapped admitting they falsified evidence against Manafort specifically to bring down Trump and help Hillary get elected because she was ‘their candidate’. Although the guy was accused in abuse of office and meddling in US elections and sentenced for it seems like he got some double secret probation. He is even still a head of Ukrainian FBI!

Article is like drinking toxic polluted water. The statement “Andriy Yermak, negotiated last summer with Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, as Giuliani and Trump pressured Ukraine to start investigations that would benefit Trump politically.” is a TOTAL LIE.

Also, media continually refers to Zelensky with the lying and demeaning term “comedian.” No, he was an ACTOR. But they don’t want an implied reference to Ronald Reagan.

TRASH ARTICLE. LIES. Not one mention of Hunter Biden or Burisma and not tying them and other dems to Kolomoisky.

I thought Vindman (Oh say, can you see?) was delivering that message.

The say was they offered Vindman the position of the Secretary of Defence (of Ukraine). This guy is a walking conflict of interests. Foreign agent to boot.

No. Reagan had experience as governor of CA. But Reagan didn’t win with 73% of the popular vote. The greater point is that news media distorts. IMO, a “clown” moniker is undeserved at this point. Most Ukrainians despised the corrupt Poroshenko and the greater crook pro-Russian crook Yanokovitch.

I wonder where do you get get ideas of how things work there. Let me guess: lieing media.
Yanukovich wasn’t more corrupt than Poroshenko although he wasn’t great. He had a competent government though with the whole administration exponentially better than Poroshenko.
Poroshenko was evil and incompetent, more so than the previous administration. Maybe incompetent is a wrong word because he was specifically installed by NWO to destroy his country. In that he was successful.
Zelensky is exponentially less competent than Poroshenko although not evil and simply an empty suit. His administration are either incompetents or leftovers from Poroshenko.
The reason why he is elected is because of planned absolescence of Poroshenko regime. Nobody expected his effective policies of destroying his country would be any popular. There were TV series with Zelensky playing a ‘good’ president to groom him and exploit public distrust to a professional political class.
It worked but it also makes you wonder how smart the population which bought the trick is.

Trump was elected because he was the best choice. He did not need any help from Ukraine.
