Billionaire Bloomberg Replaces Billionaire Steyer on Democrat Debate Stage

The battle of the Democrat money men running for president is playing out in high-roller Las Vegas as billionaire Mike Bloomberg replaces billionaire Tom Steyer on the debate stage Wednesday night.

Steyer did not meet the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) threshold by the Tuesday midnight deadline.

And while voters can cast their ballot for Steyer in Nevada, Bloomberg’s name is not one of the candidates on it.

Steyer, who took part in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth debates is not happy about the development, Politico reports:

Steyer’s campaign has cried foul at his likely exclusion, arguing that his strength in Nevada and South Carolina is more than sufficient to warrant a spot on stage. Their evidence includes the release of an internal campaign survey on Tuesday showing Steyer at 18 percent in Nevada, trailing only Sanders (24 percent) and Biden (19 percent).

“It just seems pretty frankly disenfranchising to voters in Nevada and South Carolina that their voices aren’t being heard … given there’s been one poll in both states that’s qualifying,” Heather Hargreaves, Steyer’s campaign manager, told Politico. “There’s no opportunity to actually meet the criteria because there’s no polls.”

Steyer should have this thousands of grass-roots supporters protest outside the venue...or if they are a figment of his overheated imagination, he could hire some folks...

C’mon Steyer, do something about it!

One rather inarticulate plutocrat with low charisma is replaced by another inarticulate plutocrat, with even less charisma.

But the second one has more money and a Hell of a lot more ground organization. Maybe that is enough....

Meanwhile Tom Steyer can take over funding the down-ticket races for House of Representatives and Senate, and concentrate on state-level races for governors and legislatures.

[Rules do not apply to Democrats.]

The rules were set out, not to create an exclusive club, but to whittle down the debates to a manageable set of people who are serious contenders, instead of having 50 people on the debate stage. So from that perspective, it’s completely understandable that Bloomberg would be on that stage. Note that they are including Bloomberg not as a favor to him, but so the other candidates can take pot shots at him, and perhaps knock him down.

It would perhaps be better for Bloomberg if he had not been asked to join the debates. But to refuse an invitation would have reeked of cowardice. Is Trump worse off for having canceled routine press conferences, where journalists got to editorialize at his expense? Bottom line is that being in the debates increases the chance that Bloomberg will say something off-message that negatively affects his campaign that his avalanche of ads and armies of GOTV workers will never do. In other words, being in the debates is a poisoned chalice.

Biden is doing just well enough to stick around and make a complete fool of himself, but not well enough to actually win on the first ballot.

Perfect!

Biden is falling but where are the votes going? Not to Sanders obviously so most must be going to bloomberg. Looks like Bloomberg is picking up some votes from Buttplug too. What a bunch.

“Tom Steyer on the debate stage Wednesday night. Steyer did not meet the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) threshold by the Tuesday midnight deadline.”

Looks like he should have been running ads against Mini Mike rather than Trump.

Steyer has been running many, many ads here in the Reno market for over 2 months. I have to assume that he has done the same in Las Vegas area.

I am tired of looking at him. He is an empty, lying bag of skin, IMO.

Same with Joe. All of his focus has been on Trump. He won’t call out Sanders by name. Hello?

Tom is poor compared to mini Mike. He could not afford to spend a billion on ads. Also, smarter since he is spending other people’s money.
