3M Corporation makes those masks. Yesterday, a friend told me that her daughter received a phone call asking her if she could return to 3M to help make the masks
Good news!
I imagine Team Trump is incenting them and will also be on Rx Meds pharm companies to bring back manufacturing for those, too.
my gut feeling is they are busting their butts off getting new manufacturing/assembly lines set up in the U.S. to make ten times or 100 times or more of the face masks ASAP.
Also I would imagine other companies are also going into over time to set up shop to make other safety stuff like plastic gloves and stuff like that.
Again I would imagine Massive hiring and alot of over time for the manufacturing of these products under U.S. Government emergency powers like they did with the Manhattan Project associated with the making of the nuclear bombs with out creating a panic, The big question is could the U.S. do something like this with red tape bogging the whole process down, I don't think we can do it anymore like we did in WWII but who knows time will tell.
One of the other passengers looked out the window and said those are spinnerets.
just for the benefit of us uninitiated, what are spinnerets? and what is anyone gonna do with 75 carloads of'em?

They’re used to make thread/yarn.
75 of them?
factory that’s involved in making fabric.
Maybe. But that is their choice. The whole purpose of the free enterprise system is to meet the public demand. If people want more medical care then the system should expand to provide it.
Its not an act of war, its an act of survival.

The original news source video explains it all from a business/economic perspective.
We have supply line shortages since many countries have either banned, or restricted
certain medical supplies, medications, and protective equipment during this infection.
There are few medical supplies available, and resupply to answer the shortages
are not readily available.
The coronavirus has demonstrated and identified where our prior national self-interests
have been ignored and left us in shortfall and ill-prepared for this viral infection.
USA dependency for offshore manufacture has demonstrated shortages in protective gear,
medications, vaccines, and point of care diagnostic kits.
For example, 40% of pharmacies report shortages of N-95 medical respirators/ masks.
We have an international supply chain liability.
When most countries are experiencing a medical crisis, "we have no allies".
From your computer to God’s email...
May it all be made possible.
+1
NEVER put a potential war enemy in charge of your nation’s precious medication and medical supply manufacturing.
We definitely have a different mind set, from US citizens and Congress, than we did during WWII.
Praying that this will encourage exactly what you've said, along with THOUSANDS of VICTORY GARDENS sprouting up, all across the country.
In China, it's one (1) for every 22,000.
And a lot of their doctors are *maybe* at the level of physicians assistants here.
If -- as it is beginning to be clear -- this *was* a Chinese bioweapon, Trump should first forcibly expel EVERY Han immigrant (*cough* tough sh*t, Universities) and then gleefully collude with Putin in nuking China off the face of the Earth.
China also takes about 5x the US energy per unit of economic output.
Exactly. No sense ever to partner up in business with China.
When was this that the company was nationalized? During obamy’s time? obamy was supposed to have been involved with the virus lab.
The C-level suites, current and former, of all those companies should have their entire personal net worth forcibly confiscated before the traitorous vermin are shipped to WUhan.
They can make good money there as hearse drivers -- last week I saw the pay rate was $143 (US dollars) per hour.
The board of directors and entire C-suite of that Company, and their Congresscritter if involved, should be executed for treason.
During WW2 I lived in Boston and was surprised at how many types of vegetables could be grown in poor coal ash soil in the city.
But at that period of time many people still had farmers in their family. -Tom
