I’ve seen amazing container veggie gardens grown on NYC apartment balconies.

Sent to me by another FReeper :

Mask type info:
Information Source : https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/masks-and-n95-respirators

N95 Respirators for Use by the Public

FDA has cleared certain filtering facepiece respirators (N95) for use by the general public.
To work as expected, an N95 respirator requires a proper fit to your face.
Generally, to check for proper fit, you should put on your respirator
and adjust the straps so that the respirator fits tightly but comfortably to your face.
For information on proper fit, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not generally recommend facemasks
and respirators for use in home or community settings.
However, they may be appropriate for persons at increased risk of severe illness from influenza
or other respiratory diseases.
Please consult with your health care provider for more information
about when to use N95 Respirators at home or in the community.
FDA has cleared the following N95 respirators for use by the general public in public health medical emergencies:

3M™ Particulate Respirator 8670F
3M™ Particulate Respirator 8612F
Pasture Tm F550G Respirator
Pasture Tm A520G Respirator

These devices are labeled “NOT for occupational use.”

Yes. But I would not use China’s doctor population as a guide to determine how many doctors we should have. The US is the worlds richest country. We should have more doctors per capita than any other nation in the world. But we are not even close.

Every US company in China is a partnership in which the majority is owned by China
………………………………………………………………….

If this is true and I don’t doubt you, what’s the point in nationalizing if they already control the company?

Not meant to be snarky, I just want to learn.

In terms of the immediate issue face masks, the N95 face masks. China put export restrictions on those masks and then nationalized an American factory that produces them there.

Odd, sounds more like people who did a bioattack on purpose than people who made a mistake...and feel remorseful...

Most of those masks were made in the US.

They were outsourced under Bush and Obama because
“Jobs Americans don’t want to do”.

Ex girlfriend made them, and made good money at the time (2002?). 3M dumped a few hundred employees to move production to China.

And note. Every time a factory is built in China, the controlling interest MUST be held by a Chinese company. SO the factory isn’t being nationalized as much as the controlling partner has said “We are taking control now!”

All my career, I have been against this type of IP outsourcing. Most times MBA and Lean “experts” say “WE HAVE TO IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR SHAREHOLDERS!”

Lot of MBA’s viewed it as the hot new thing 20 years ago. I have uncharitable thoughts on those bastards.

The one I know was torn down for a housing development.

Another has been abandoned.

That is just the building. The machines were carefully packed up and moved to China. Just like most of our Ammonia factories.

That isn't the point.

China has too *few* (poorly trained at that, as Mao eliminated traditional herbal medicine) doctors already.

Read up on how many doctors and nurses are being sent to Wuhan from the whole country of China. And how many are dying.

this is but one reason why critical products should NOT be made in Communist China.

How do Ammonia factories play into this disaster?

I’m worried about cellphones, car parts, and antibiotics...

All parts of industries China took...and we gave away.

Remember when white liberal elites were raking in cash by out sourcing our jobs to China? So share with me - what are the horrors going to be about ammonia? Or lack of same...

Nuking is the official US policy response to our country being on the receiving end of biological warfare.

It’s pretty hard to beat the price of goods made with slave labor.

Especially when you saddle the same manufacturing process with layers and layers of regulations and rules, making production costs stateside skyrocket.

We can't even chrome-plate a bumper any more.

Guessing shortages will start within two months... our ‘just in time’ system of saving money by not having to warehouse appears to have a downside. What’s your best take on what products will go first. I’m thinking it’ll be masks, goggles, cell phones and antibiotics...

NEVER put a potential war enemy in charge of your nation’s precious medication and medical supply manufacturing.

But,but,but - they work cheaper... /s

redgolum :".. Lot of MBA’s viewed it as the hot new thing 20 years ago.
I have uncharitable thoughts on those bastards.

Hindsight is always 20/20 vision.
But you are "spot-on" with your comment.

We should have learned about our own countries shortcomings from the last SARS virus event.
That is why I repeated that when a medical crisis occurs, "we have no allies".
That is why we NEED to return production back to our country, made in America,
so that we have the protective equipment, medications, vaccines, and point of care kits
that are unadulterated, sterile, and kits that render accurate results.
Faulty equipment and medications which are not under our control or manufacture,
may include inert or dangerous chemicals or pollutants.
We should not rely on production that is substandard, and which depends on the health standards of some foreign country.
There is a reason why they are given contracts as :" low bidder",
which signifies that they have cut costs somewhere.

Sort answer. We are screwed.

All of my feedstock and customers are in North America. However, my customers get stuff from China, as do my parts suppliers.

I am less worried about factories and more about keeping the water on. Most controllers are made with Chicom parts.

And I don’t know of a factor running.

Masks and Goggles are already gone: Chinese expatriates in the states descend on stores the same morning the delivery trucks arrive, buy all the masks, and send them to China.

China has nationalized the (I think) 3M-owned mask plant; another Freeper reports someone they know who used to make masks for 3M, getting a call from 3M to come back and start again.

Apple is toast; several automaker plants worldwide (one in I think Serbia, and the largest Hyundai plant in South Korea, I read about explicitly) are shut down because of missing parts from China.

The CCP had a Central Committee Meeting reported about an hour ago; among other things, they're doing *tax cuts* to stimulate the economy.

One of the PLA Navy (??) frigates is quarantined with Coronavirus.

China is toast.

But the entire rest of the planet had put all of its manufacturing there: not duplicated the function, but in many cases, literally disassembled the factories themselves and shipped them entire to China.

China makes either the medicines, or the essential feedstocks for medicines, for 70%-90% of the prescription meds and antibiotics in the US.

Every C-level executive, consultant, MBA, and helper company involved in that, should be summarily executed for Treason.
