The coronavirus is coinciding with "significant decreases" in nitrogen dioxide over China, according to NASA, as authorities there continue to place more people under quarantines and some businesses remain closed amid the outbreak.
Pollution monitoring satellites operated by NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) detected the decreases over a two-month span, according to a news release. The drops coincided with the outbreak and the Lunar New Year, which was unusually tame because many decided to stay indoors rather than risk becoming infected.
“This is the first time I have seen such a dramatic drop-off over such a wide area for a specific event,” said Fei Liu, an air quality researcher at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
Nitrogen dioxide levels over China decreased dramatically as China continues to grapple with the coronavirus outbreak.
In January, Chinese authorities locked down several cities and shut down all transportation going into and out of the city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.
The pollution reduction is shown in two maps released by the space agencies. The first shows large concentrations of nitrogen dioxide levels over Beijing and near Wuhan from Jan. 1 through 20, before mandated quarantines were issued.
The second is dated from Feb. 10 to 25 in the same area. Almost no nitrogen dioxide is shown.

I used to imagine similar scans of my workplace as I’d sit in my chair maybe an hour after everyone else left and all the buzzing wad gone...busy busy busy, then silence. We only live so long. Make God proud of ya.
I am thinking any run-of-the-mill statistician could correlate the increase in coronavirus cases with any number of things “post hoc”.
I am also thinking that becoming a coronavirus alarmist, like climate alarmism, could lead to increased budgets for those inclined to take such positions.
Nitrogen dioxide is from high pressure combustion (like in the cylinders of engines) No cars, buses, trucks running and the concentration plummets.
No mention of the sulfur plume from the crematoria, though...
The Agenda 21 crowd is hopeful...
So China isn’t lying about its quarantines.
Libs hate economic activity. Libs hate economic growth. Libs hate human habitation. Libs hate human population. Except for a small number of libs kept alive as environmental stewards, libs want humanity replaced with snail darters.
Libs view humanity as a cancer, and often say so.
To me, there is a strange allure to work in an otherwise buzzing place after closing, alone in the quiet.
Hitler had high trait conscientiousness, particularly with the sub trait of orderliness. Liberals appear to have the same attitude in regards to humanity. They just cast a larger net to appear more “humane” and then exclude themselves.
The libs regard humanity as no better than cockroaches and the cockroaches and pests were the first thing Hitler exterminated in his factories before he turned his sights on Jews. Narcissism plus high trait orderliness can be very deadly.
