What do the phones have to do with the Coronavirus?
NOW it’s WAY out of control.
I have no idea but many here will approve
This is completely wrong and has little, if any, reasoning behind it.
Sounds oike an 0bama plan.
It won’t be me.
The coffee packets at work for loading the percolator make perfect Faraday bags for phones.
Just FYI...the Hassidic Jews don’t carry “Smart Phones”. Only flip.....from what I noticed.
Read the article!
“Shin Bet was permitted to use phone data notably which cell towers the device is connected to in order to retroactively track the movements of those found to be carriers of the coronavirus in order to see with whom they interacted in the days and weeks before they were tested in order to place those people in quarantine.
“The Shin Bet will relay the information to the Health Ministry, which will send a message to those who were within two meters (6.6 feet) of the infected person for 10 minutes or more, telling them to go into quarantine.”
Still highly intrusive. While it “sounds” like a good idea, is it really about the virus?
Yeah, I probably should read further before commenting.
Carry around a little GPS tracking device and that data will eventually find an excuse to get used.
How? The virus is going to jump up out of the phone and attack people??
Mine gets forgotten on the nightstand more and more as I get older.
This is a perfect example of using something that has a good purpose, which may well turn out to be a tool of totalitarian oppression. Yes, I fully understand the need and desire to quarantine anyone who might be a carrier of coronavirus, but this foot in the door will not be good for Israel or any other nation that tries it.
This, by the way, assumes that those proposing this program have nothing but the best of intentions. Perhaps, by some small miracle, that is actually true, but I dont believe it. I certainly dont in this country. Totalitarians never rest, they are always looking for another way to gain power or increase what they already have. I dont trust them as far as I can throw an elephant, and I think that it will be a very big mistake for Israel or any other free nation to implement such a program.
Oh great, the DemonicRats will jump on this one.
I was mistaken that FR was about liberty all these years. Sure, there is a public health aspect to this viral outbreak, but the ever increasing restrictions on what many regard as western freedoms and FR member cheer leading is disconcerting. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and things look more chicomist by the day.
Doesn't matter. They triangulate off of cell towers for location info in the event they don't have onboard GPS to access.
'E911' laws were passed about 20 years ago and went into effect over a decade ago. Millions and millions have been buying and paying for constant surveillance ever since.
Thanks for the info.
