We knew the numbers would jump once testing started. That’s a function of testing and not of real new cases.

America is the 3rd most populated country in the world.
What’s the per capita ranking.
Never mind. Don’t care.

Why the constant attention to the number of new cases, never with any adjustment for population size? What matters is the mortality of the new cases, which will depend on pre-existing conditions. Go into a nursing home in Italy, and you’re going to find lots of them. Go to a college spring break gathering in Florida, and you won’t find many.

Sorry, that actually should read, “fourth”, not “fifth”...
Italy
Spain
Germany
Now these are not the cumulative totals, just yesterday.

Americans will NEVER get this virus.
We are clean and proud and respect the purity of our precious bodily fluids!!
Only bad countries with bad people get diseases!

What is your source for the 1776 new cases? That would be a huge jump from the general trend.

Watch, they'll have Xi Jinping or some other Chi-com official as their "Person of the Year" for 2020.

New cases should be double what they were six days ago, perhaps even more so now that we’re testing.

Congress, and all the prominent political elites, have the best healthcare system in the world. The “unwashed masses”? Not so much.

[The message I’m taking from the Italians (and Chinese) is that I don’t want a single-payer health insurance system. ]
My understanding, from both Chinese acquaintances and what I’ve read, is that the Chinese health system is mostly pay-for-service. Cash up front is the rule, ostensibly lifted by the Chinese government only for coronavirus patients. In normal circumstances, no cash means no service, even for accident-related trauma patients inside the golden hour.

[The first thing is, they said testing is free, treatment is free. Right now, there are huge barriers [to testing and treatment] in the West. You can get tested, but then you might be negative and have to foot the bill. In China, they realized those were barriers to people seeking care, so, as a state, they took over the payments for people whose insurance plans didnt cover them. They tried to mitigate those barriers. ]

When all is said and done, and the dust settles, and all the dying is reduced or stopped, China is going to have to pay.
China should give 100s of billions of $$$ to the Italians for what they’ve done.
I am convinced that they deliberately hid the seriousness of this disease from the world, and then didn’t deal honestly with other governments of the how they were allowing it to initially spread.
At the very least, the whole world needs to stop buying all their essentials from China and cut their investments MASSIVELY, while stopping Chinese firms from taking over parts of their industries.
I say this not in hatred or prejudice of Chinese people, but of their terrible communist butcher government.

Not only do the Italians have a problem with COVID-19, they also have a basic math problem...
As of 5 PM (PST):
Italy - Case Fatality Rate - 7.9%
USA - Case Fatality Rate - 1.7%
The USA Case Fatality Rate has gone down or stayed even for seven of the last eight days.
The Italian Case Fatality Rate has gone up from 5% to 8% over the last eight days.
