Trump says coronavirus closures could end in 'sections'; Task force will submit recommendations this weekend says VP Pence

On the day that the United States passed China and Italy with the most confirmed coronavirus cases – 83,507 according to Johns Hopkins University – President Trump reiterated his call for America to “go back to work.”

“Our country has to go back. Our country is based on that. I think it is going to happen pretty quickly,” Trump said at the daily coronavirus task force briefing held at the White House, “ A lot of progress has (been) made but we’ve got to go back to work.”

But the plan to get America working again may not start with the entire country. “We may take sections of our country. We may take large sections of our country that aren’t so seriously affected and we may do it that way,” Trump said adding he would offer more details on this plan next week.

Vice President Mike Pence noted that the president would be given "a range of recommendations and additional guidance for going forward" this weekend.

President Trump emphasized that even if people are able to go back to work immediately, social distancing will still remain common practice for the forseeable future.

"They're going to be practicing, as much as you can, social distancing and washing your hands and not shaking hands and all of the things that we talk about so much but they have to go back to work", he said.

Trump is the only leader the US has right now. He is the only one thinking weeks and months ahead not 1 day at a time. We need to think beyond containing the Virus and make sure the US Economy survives it.

The number of critical cases is 5%. The total number of US Cases is about 85,000. total US population is about 331,000,.000. We cannot destroy the US, and the Worlds economy out of panic and fear.

There has to start being some rational thoughtful cost benefit analysis. This “fear” mindset we developed over the last few decades needs to be fixed. We throw ourselves into a panic and demand “Government Do SOMETHING” just about weekly over some “crisis” without ever thinking through the costs and problems the “solution” creates. This response to the Virus is the best example

People have to deal with the world as it is right now, not as they wish it would work. There is NOTHING any human can do to make you 100% safe. We need to stop thinking it can be made so.

The US Economy cannot be locked for months without triggering a 2nd Great Depression.

Corporations employ tend of millions of people. Corporations are everything from your local privately own gas station down the street to massive operations like Ford or Delta Airlines.

Corporations have debt they have to play just like people. For example, When they build a new store or plant, they borrow money to finance the capital expense. In addition, they do not usually pay cash for daily supply delivers. Those are purchased are made on credit with 15-30-45-60 days to make payment. All those debt payments still have to be made even thought the Government shut them down or put a lock down on their customers.

Here is an example. I work for a Food Manufacturing corporation that employs about 5,000 people nation wide. Due to the loss of business from the slow down, they just cut all Executive and Sr Management salaries 20%. If this goes one 2 more weeks, they will cut middle management salaries, if it goes on a month they have to cut all salaries. After that they start laying off worker bees like me and shutting down production lines. Why? Because they have to have the money to make their debt payments now and hope they can make it up to employees later.

We are lucky. We are considered an “Essential Business” so we are not shut down like the Airlines or the Car companies. The US, and the World, are on the brink of a financial crisis like nothing seen since the 1929.

Those credit bills have to be paid even if businesses are shut down by Government order. The people supplying them need to be paid so they can pay their creditor and so on and so on.

If they are not paid, this will trigger a cascading financial default on scale with what happened in 1929. We not talking about just crashing our economy here, we talking trashing the worlds economy if this is not addressed

The US has to be getting back to work in weeks, not months like the hysteric liars in the professional political class, and their shameless toadies in the Fake News, are trying to convince you.

I’ll take MY chances and be responsible for MY life you POS politicians and propagandists.

Your distancing can be no more than 1 inch apart on the wall. Not all of our men have 20/20 vision.

YOU’VE caused enough damage.

Democrats are thinking as far ahead as November. Of course, November is the only month they can see...

I have already heard of two local businesses that have indicated they will close up shop and not reopen. Our Governor extended their mandated closure until the end of April and they probably decide to get out while they still have some cash left.

Apparently they are not.

Thanks to Nancy Peolosi’s game playing this week, any crash in the US Economy is now going to be blamed on them playing politics instead of getting the relief bill done. Pelosi saw a tactical opening and totally missed the strategic political disaster she was creating for the Democrat party.

Impeachment was Peloi’s “invading Russia” mistake. This week is her “declaring war on the USA” mistake

Will he depose the governors that are implementing social distancing?

Or will he prevent them from enforcing it?

Most people want to go back to work, but they would rather see where this thing goes first.

But if POTUS tries to drive it without the governors and most of the country behind him, it will be a failure.

We don’t even have enough masks for health workers.

Exactly. If you look at the actions of the Dem Governors who shut down their state they are looking at it 1 day at a time watching only the virus. They show no concern over the impact on the business community. As most have no business experience, they are acting like they can say "Today, I lift the mandated closure order and everyone can get back to work." They have no idea that owners/managers are having to look at budgets to see if they can afford to stay closed or go under, can everyone get re-hired, will they still have customers to sell their product or service to, etc.? You will never stop the spread of the virus, just like the flu, cold, etc. The longer this goes on, the more the average citizen suffers, the government bureaucrat remains unaffected.

It makes me physically ill to see hurting small business owners interviewed on TV.
Today I saw an antique store owner who had voluntarily cut hours to 2 days a week, now totally shut down by mandate, for an entire county with 3 deaths (all at an ASSISTED LIVING place). Sickening!

Nope. Dead wrong.

The political pressure on them to open up once other states start opening is going to be overwhelming. it not the Fed Govt problem the State of NY screwed their Public Health system to waste money on other things. That message will be made very clear in the coming days as people compare the total failure in NY with the rest of the Country. People are all ready starting to ask why NYC is a total disaster but not the rest of the county.

Trump, not the Govs has the public relations and political power here.

We don’t have enough mask because your state and local politicians wasted money on things like green energy helping illegals find “sanctuary” instead of maintaining their basic local infrastructure like public health, police etc

How about one time you hold state and local politicians accountable for their actions instead of knee jerk whining at the Feds to save your state or city om it’s own incompetence.

In South Korea, people who enter stores, restaurants and other enclosed area have ro go through temperature scans, much of the time accomplished with temperature cameras.

When everyone starts mingling again, this will be absolutely necessary.

Hell, even the smarmy Governor Cuomo was talking today about the going back to work end game. He doesn’t want to miss the “train” and be left lonely at the station.
