There are no suicides from isolation. There is no collateral damage from lockdown.
All is well.
All will be well, somehow.
Death toll, models, projections and most of all grim
Dont be a flubro.
They would have handled being captured by the enemy real well
And dont kid yourself a USAF chow hall is pretty nice. I got to eat in one one time. Some weird circumstances had our Marine unit pass-through one one morning. As we went down the line with a tray, the guy literally asked how we wanted our eggs cooked... and nobody verbally berated us.
Almost felt creepy, as in why are you treating us so nice?.
The nature of Gen X,Y,Z is they are extremely social creatures. We Boomers would walk into a new class and take our seats (by alphabetical order) open the book on our desk and read the first chapter, answer the questions at the end of the chapter, and sit quietly until our teacher called us to their desk to take care of class administration matters.
The new gens will enter a room, cluster and talk while setting up their social networks on their phones and be upset when the teacher asks them to sit and pay attention.
When a guest entered a boomer class we sat quietly out of respect for guests and authority figures while they discussed the issue at hand, the new gens assume if the teacher is talking freely with another they are also free to start conversations.
Different norms, different coping skills. I would venture one would find few “mountain men or pioneers” among the gen X,Y,Zers. Millenials will also find this a very tough time simply because they are asked to make a decision to follow a rule.
I do believe we will persevere in this time of trial and our economic juggernaut will light afterburners and be the saving grace for the people of our planet. WWG1WGA!
Oh, we already lost our business. Absolutely no money coming in... and none for the forseeable future. Looking forward to some helicopter money.
It is like watching a slow moving train wreck without the train....
But we will survive. We own our own home, have a well and a generator with some fuel. we’ll be okay. Plenty of gophers to hunt and eat on our five acres...yumm..
Ummm, gopher gumbo.
But it's hard to imagine any Academy "student" committing suicide simply because of enforced isolation.
it seemed, at the time, that the entire program was structured to cause you to commit suicide. Or resign.
LMAO- that made my day already
see Post #27
I don't think it's a sure thing that Academy grads are going to become fighter pilots.
They would have handled being captured by the enemy real well
whoops hit the isolation button
I worked as a contract employee in an Air Force setting for twenty years, and yes, I came away believing that those are essentially the required qualities, in addition to whatever other skills and training one brings to the job. I could never do it; it's too stultifying on a personal level.
Bingo!
Foisted on the military in return for minimal funding by politicians with a dubious agenda.
“You can attack the mainline U.S., there’s a snowflake behind every blade of grass.”
At the Air Force Academy today, if your goal is not to become a pilot you have to write a letter, not explaining why you dont want to be a pilot. Theres a drastic pilot shortage and almost everyone will become a pilot of some sort. Forget F-15, Would you want to be riding in a C1 30 with one of the snowflakes in the cockpit?
There must be some other reason than just the social distancing causing the suicide.
How can the cadets handle other stressful situations thrust upon them?
“They would have handled being captured by the enemy real well”
Unless they’ve studied the life of John McCain and learned how to survive by committing treason. There’s a chance they could come out of it — and fatter than when they were captured.
No wonder that the military has a bunch of spoiled children as officers, hope they never get captured in a war. Who is picking these babies?
Suicides? Cmon!! Clearly those that did this were not properly vetted for miltary service. How are some of these officer candidate wanna bes there now going act during the Pilot, escape and evasion course???
