Teen girls attack woman on NYC bus with umbrella in latest anti-Asian hate crime

Police are searching for a teenage girl who made racist statements as she viciously assaulted an Asian woman on a Bronx MTA bus with an umbrella.

The 51-year-old victim was confronted by the group of four girls about 3 p.m. on March 28 as she rode the Bx13 bus near Ogden Avenue and W. 166th St. in Highbridge, cops said.

The girls made anti-Asian statements before one of them struck the woman in the head with an umbrella and fled the bus, cops said.

The attack is at least the sixth anti-Asian hate crime in recent weeks. Many of the attacks were inspired by the coronavirus pandemic, based on the assailants’ twisted remarks.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she needed stitches to close a gash on her forehead, according to authorities.

Three 15-year-old girls were arrested near the scene following the attack and charged with hate crime assaults, menacing and harassment.

I read about these a few years ago. Completely legal to carry anywhere, even in weapons-adverse nations like UK and in most places not likely to draw unwanted attention. In the hands of a well trained person, could be quite devastating and surprising to an assailant.

Whenever I walk anywhere, I carry a cane. You don't have to "fake a limp" or any of that stupid crap, just carry it. After a while, you get used to it and feel weird if you don't have it.

Twisted? Talk about editorializing, not reporting. It may’ve been unnecessary, and mean indeed, but was it untrue? I’d like to know. Just because it’s unPC doesn’t mean it’s false and thus, “twisted”.
