Heavy smoker, drinker. So obviously had some "underlying issues", but I was taken aback by the fact that the paramedics simply took her to the morgue and told my brother to make arrangements. No investigation. No autopsy. Not even a COVID-19 test.
Answer this then. Why arent they saving the other 7000 lives per day and only CV matters? Total CV deaths so far only make up a one day and a half of daily deaths in the US.
You must be young because it does not sound like you have ever been through other bad pandemics. And this one aint one of them.
Would you want to autopsy a CCP-19 patient?
I can tell you I would not.
What a coinky-dink, their friends in Commie China do the same accounting.Bring Out Your DeadWell not quite, at least Mayor De Blasio isn't having them welded into high rises...
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
The false positive rate was 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old farts life, it's worth it.
Yawn. And this is why this site is worse than the DUmp. Your awful people. You love one thing: $. God is not mocked.
We need some perspective here. If there is a statewide "stay at home" order in place, then far more people are at home than usual and for much more time than usual; someone who is going to compare "at-home" deaths prior to the Coronavirus has to take the "stay at home" restriction into consideration. (Broken bone injuries at home will be up, heart attacks at home will be up, paper cuts at home will be up, et cetera.)
I wouldn’t want to autopsy anyone since it is not my job. But any autopsy in NY regardless of “client” would, I would think, be carried out with PPE and cautions. If we are to have accurate information, autopsies need to be done to find out why the person died, whether from Covid or some other reason. Just my opinion
We had a record COVID19 deaths (1800+) today in the US and we have now passed H1N1 deaths.
The last worse pandemic in the US was in 1918, so you’re right, I wasn’t around then.
That’s definitely reasonable, but to be honest, even with PPE, I’d be terrified to go around a diseased cadaver.
But, then again, I’m also fairly easily terrified these days.
Ah man, yer pissin in the punch bowl at the pity party.
LOL
Do you mean Youre awful people or You are awful people?
I agree, even with PPE I wouldn’t want to do it, but thankfully there are people who would/do AND more importantly who treat those alive that have Covid 19 while wearing PPE.
It is the law. The bodies will be kept until at least a rudimentary autopsy is performed to rule out murder/suicide. This is particularly critical if there is life insurance involved and estates to be probated. The thousands of people who died in Katrina were eventually autopsied although it took months. I would think a large city like NY would be able to handle the case load.
So sorry to hear about your SIL. May she RIP.
Does the family suspect COVID?
It seems like the inexpensive, fast IgG/IgM antibody testing would make sense for such recently deceased cases.
If these NYC numbers are true, it is absolutely shocking — the at-home death rate is 10X what it normally is? That is very hard to believe. Perhaps people go to sleep saying “it feels like the flu; I’ll feel better after I get some sleep” and just don’t wake up again.
“Yawn”.
“And this is why this site is worse than the DUmp. Your awful people. You love one thing: $. God is not mocked.”
So true. The same people who claim to be against abortion and euthanasia, are mocking peoples’ suffering and death, in order to follow a political narrative.
The same people who years ago took a stand for Terri Schiavo, who was unconscious on life support, now write off tens of thousands of deaths because they had “underlying health conditions”.
Here is another thing to consider in understanding this thing.
The first thing that needs to be done is standardization of the cause of death. Apparently it varies all over the world. I’m not even sure it is consistent among the US states and metro areas. We can’t do any Apples to Apples comparisons at all.
Now there's a simple solution for you! Just leave.
