So...I've had Liberals say things to me...that were very insulting and wrong headed....And it was because they knew that I'm a Conservative.

Family too....And yes...they are not welcome in my house. And HAVE done wrong.

So we disagree....

Carry on!

“.I’ve had Liberals say things to me...that were very insulting and wrong headed”

Sounds redundant :-)

I’ve been called a commie by fascists and a fascist by commies. I’m actually a Barry Goldwater /Libertarian-ish paleo con. :-)

When yeast got a little hard to find a month or so ago I got a sourdough starter and haven’t looked back. Fortunately the ‘instant’ stuff freezes really well, 5 pounds and you’re good for many years

The plants can only stay open if they get the supplies of raw product to process. If the producers are killing off their chickens, for various reasons that have been

With the restaurants closed the demand for chicken has dropped dramatically.

The producers are killing their animals because the plants are closed. They can only sell them in a specific age range. Once that has passed it’s too late to sell them anywhere.

People are still eating the same amount of chicken as before.

It’s easier to direct the supply chain change for things like chicken than it is for 10 gallon containers of milk.

PLUS, a lot of our chicken parts actually are sold overseas in Asia. They haven’t been importing a whole lot lately because a lot of shipping is shut down. Chicken feet are a delicacy there and chicken houses here take lots of extra care to ensure the feet aren’t ‘ugly’ or deformed so they can sell them.

Poultry and hogs are being killed off only because there aren’t any processing plants to take them.

The production schedules on large farms have very little ‘give’ in them, and if plants won’t take the birds or animals they simply have to be killed, and most likely buried.

Before I sold out I raised over 250,000 market hogs, so I’m familiar with the problems producers are facing.

Having worked in a meat packing plant I understand the process. If the coolers become full of finished product the plant has to shut down until there is room. Since the product is perishable it has to be kept cold, especially chicken.

If the plant can't accept any more raw product because its sales have dropped off and its cold storages are full, then the producers have to kill of their chickens and take a huge loss.

The if the sales allow the plant to empty its cold storages and the plant wishes to reopen, it might not be able to because there is no available product, or not enough to make reopening feasible.

They claim they are shutting down the chicken processing plants on the eastern shore of Virginia because workers have Corvid-19.
Accomack county only has 195 cases and 17 hospitalized. And Northampton has 28 cases and 3 hospitalized. Only 3 deaths both counties.
The CDC is sending a team to the Tyson plant help deal with it. You would think that Tyson would know how to deal with sick employees. They’re a large company.
