The strangest thing about this virus in this area is the way that it is bankrupting all of our hospitals and urgent care facilities. We had the first known cases and deaths in the USA here in the eastern parts of King and Snohomish Counties, but our hospitals all cleared out in late March and have basically been empty since.

Evergreen Hospitals and their affiliates the first to have deaths are losing $20 Million a month. A quarter of their employees have been layed off. My wife is a retired nurse and department head and I am a retired fire officer. We have lots of contacts and friends who work at hospitals and they are mostly telling us the same thing... they have no patients.

I assume that this doctor and his hospital have a different treatment protocol than what is being used around here because it does not sound like the same experience that has been described to us. Treatment protocols vary greatly from state to state, county to county, and even hospital to hospital, so I guess this is not that suprising. Unfortunately, the doctors who contribute regularly here have either been to busy to post much lately or have become frustrated by the experience of being shouted down by the large number of Covidiots active on the forum.

hakim means “wise” in Arabic.

Provincially, it is called the Zelenko protocol, after the upstate NY physician who published it first. The Demoncrats have their own “HCQ protocol”, which is to apply it after the virus has already caused major damage, and the HCQ has the least effect as the virus has moved into a different stage for the end game.

There is a lot of skepticism by experts about whether an effective vaccine can be made for this virus, but if we can halt the unique cytokine storm that causes prolonged respiratory failure and even death, then this virus becomes just a flu. We will all be happy to ride out a week or two of fevers, body aches, and weakness if we knew there was no chance for our oxygen level to drop precipitously. We probably are several months away from that drug, and another several months more away from mass producing that drug.

“THE HCQ Protocol” -— You and I and FReepers see it as HCQ + Zinc + antibiotic, but many others do not (the vaccine $$$ pushers).

I just searched on it. I see “protocols” of HCQ alone or HCQ + antibiotic. Zinc is conspicuously absent. From what I’ve read, zinc is a critical component — it disrupts viral reproduction.

And what is an essential business that is okay to furlough? Is it okay for a child not to have access to shoes she can fit into? Is it essential for a health-care provider to have a working car to get to his place of work? Do we need a home internet repair man if the person at home is using the internet to coordinate deliveries of viral testing devices? Can going to a park or trail to exercise be an essential and permissible activity when we know fat and deconditioning are directly contributing to COVID-19 deaths?

The devotion the HCQ is almost religious around here. Anyone not getting in line that it’s a wonder drug is attacked.

As far as I’m concerned, the opinion of anyone without a MD after their name is utterly worthless, and teh opinion of anyone WITH an MD is conditional upon degree of epidemiological experience and expertise.

The virus doesn’t block the hemoglobin, red cells damaged in the cytokine storms release their hemoglobin at the lungs(causing the ground glass scenario in the lungs) as well as in the blood stream. The free strands of hemo globin have a binding effect on o2 but it will not release it(much like what happens in carbon monoxide poisoning...only the co molecule is bound and won’t be released). (Now immature red blood cells in the marrow do still have their nuclear material in them so I’ve wondered if the virus attacks such cells in the marrow itself. RBC’s normally lose their nucleuses when they are to be released to the bloodstream to take up their work in gas and nutrient transport for the body.)

I’ve wondered if Desferal Therapy which is an iron chelation drug might work against such damaged hemoglobin by working to strip the iron from them. Zinc itself might help in that zinc competes with iron for absorption in the gut and may mitigate what the iron does in those damaged hemoglobin packets in terms of 02 binding. Zinc after all is used in the galvanizing of ferrous metals to keep them from OXIDIZING or rusting.
