I should have added that because our senior population is so much larger today, we have to make that much more of an effort to protect seniors from COVID-19 than we did from the Hong-Kong flu.
But the overall death toll should not be used to justify preventing younger healthier people from living their lives, unless you want to argue that we should have shut things down during the Hong-Kong flu as well.
Which is far greater than 6,000 deaths reported through 21 weeks.

Exactly! But, that’s going to be difficult for some here to accept. Especially bloviating blowhards, who think they’re immune, and therefore pretend they’re oh-so brave, while they just don’t give a d*## about vulnerable populations. Unseemly doesn’t begin to describe that attitude.
They operate on the basis of guesswork in almost all epidemics. Look at Fauci & Birx’s track record on AIDS, SAR1 and MERS. Not exactly a confidence inspiring track record. Despite billions spent, not effective, safe vaccine for any of the three.
