The worst part is the people are being conditioned by the most greedy/selfish people on the planet.

You’ve got that right.

That’s a February 3 article. There’s been plenty of evidence since then establishing asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic spread.

It even caused the CDC to change their face covering guidelines:

“We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity—for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing—even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.”

Maybe someone can explain how masks can prevent the virus escaping from a carrier but can’t do much to prevent a wearer from catching it from aerosole particles hanging in the air. Would seem that aerosols spray propelled by a cough would easily escape a mask.

I know when it was posted. I was responding to a comment about the original German study, which was shown to be flawed.

Do you have a link to the hard data the CDC used for their recommendations, or was this change in position based on models, inferences, and estimates?

Spread of COVID-19 is primarily droplet and contact. Masks won’t stop spread completely but they cut down droplet expulsion dramatically.

That’s nice but he doesn’t address the claimed primary benefit of masks - they help protect others if the wearer is shedding virus.

Check the CDC website. The studies they based their change in guidelines on are noted there. You can accept them or not.

i have 35 years experience and don’t need an expert. However some here want papers. I gave you one. Masks are worthless in fighting this in public and may even make it worse. It is however useful for identifying sheeple and those who wish to virtue signal.

because the material in the masks is so magical that even though it lets the virus in from the outside it keeps the virus going from inside out? I want some of that magic material

Okay, I found the sources. The first one is the discredited paper referred to earlier. Not a good start...

The CdC changes their guidelines every 5 minutes based on what they think is available, what they think they can con people into doing, and which way the political wind is blowing. They have no credibility

Here is the title for one of the sources:

Bai Y, Yao L, Wei T, et al. Presumed Asymptomatic Carrier Transmission of COVID-19. Jama. 2020.

Yeah, that sounds convincing...

“Plus the mask helps keep you from touching your face.”

That’s a laugh riot. People who I see wearing masks are constantly pawing at their faces — much more than they would normally.

“We could probably save a billion people in the U.S alone!!!!”

That’s so funny! It’s something Biden would say. Remember when he said something like 30,000,000 women lost their jobs?

I see where you’re coming from. The only way to convince you would probably be double blind studies using asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people to intentionally infect people.

Viral shedding has been shown to occur with people having no symptoms.

Maybe so but they’re not picking their noses or sucking on their fingers like people who are adamantly opposed to masks are more prone to do.

The virus doesn’t have legs. It’s not the face, generally speaking, that matters. It’s the entry points.

I don't think you do. I didn't say that at all. Regarding double-blind studies: isn't that the standard for medical proof?

Viral shedding has been shown to occur with people having no symptoms.

Which reference conclusively proves that?

because the material in the masks is so magical that even though it lets the virus in from the outside it keeps the virus going from inside out?

Because it reduces the spread of aerosolized water droplets containing the virus.

But you knew that.

BTW, I happened across a study your guy at the OCLA says doesn't exist.

A cluster randomised trial of cloth masks compared with medical masks in healthcare workers

They found medical masks are significantly more effective than cloth masks in preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses.

That could only be true if masks work.

I found it by accident in about 2 minutes. You may want to find a new "researcher".
