PA Restaurant Owner Opens for Dine-in Services: ‘I Didn’t Back Down'.....

Round the Clock Diner made waves this week after the owner reopened the restaurant’s locations in Manchester and Springettsbury 'for dine-in' services, in contravention to the governor’s stay-at-home order.....the yellow phase of reopening does not allow restaurants to operate dine-in services. Despite that, Sacarellos is charging ahead.

I think I just follow what’s right,” Sacarellos, who has been in the business for 52 years, said they are keeping the restaurant “very clean” and taking safety protocols, like seating patrons at every other table. Urging Wolf to “let the people open up ,Forget the politics.”

“I didn’t back down. I’m still operating and will continue, We’re not opening just because we need the money. We didn’t change the prices for 11 and half years. … So we’re not looking for money. We’re looking for money to pay the bills and support our families and that’s it,” he said.....Everyone says thank you, he said, even offering, in some cases,”$50 dollars, $100 dollars.”

“I said I don’t need money. Just pay for your meals. That’s all I need. That’s all I want you to do so I can pay my people,” he said.

Sacarellos pays his employees $14 an hour, noting that it helps them support their families and encourages them to “come in and work.”

“Put the politics aside and let the people work, because the country is turning into more like a communist system here,” he warned, “and I know better than a communist system. I lived in those days.”

Sacarellos immigrated from Greece and briefly touched on the brutality he witnessed growing up, at the hands of communism.

“I have seen in my life a lot. The American people don’t even know,” he said, explaining that “Russia took over” and adding that it was “coming down.”

“Forget the politics” Apt words, indeed. This should absolutely not be about politics. The fact that it is shows why we have the problem in the first place. It isn’t about health safety or anything except we must get rid of Trump whatever the cost. It is said that you must break a few eggs to make an omelet, but the Democrats are breaking eggs by the truckload.

Spoke with my District Rep this week.....they’re not backing off. I’m very proud Pa’s leadership has stepped up to the plate...and my community is hot and heavy in on these efforts.

Wolf way underestimated Pennsylvanians cities that are outside Phil...and Pittsburgh Dem. stronghold. These other smaller cities and communities are letting their voices be heard in a big way.

By not backing off do they mean they’re prepared to pass a joint resolution ending Wolf’s state of emergency?

Anything else is just kabuki theater.

A disaster state of emergency may last indefinitely, but the governor must renew it every 90 days, and the Pennsylvania General Assembly may vote to terminate it at any time.

People have inquired about this and are being told that Wolf would loose Federal Funding ...

Forcing businesses to close should be regarded as a ‘taking’, the same as an eminent domain taking. The State must be required to make the business ‘whole’ again. Meaning pay owners for losses incurred. This nonsense would stop immediately.

Good point...and I think the politicans are beginning to understand that to keep businesses in check is going to ruin them if it hasn’t already.

Thank you for posting this. This man has seen many bad times before . He knows what is right. He is right about the brutal times that the Greeks suffered during the German and Russian invasions .
