Federal officials just got tough with the City of Laredo (whose officials are being obstructionist, to posture politically) last week. Laredo wanted a fancy down town river front development as part of their Federal project, but they are now at risk of scuttling it due to their trouble-making, and getting some plain prison bars, covered with concertina.
The project is moving ahead, with or without them.

Environmental regulations are not intended to protect the environment. Doubtless, there are many individuals involved who have the environment as their concern. However, the regulations are intended as a means of slowing or stopping American economic development. Thus, we have federal departments giving money grants to non-governmental organizations to sue the giving agency into enforcing regulations. We gave up the ability to reprocess radioactive elements into power rods because of a smelt. We have to abandon productive farmland because of more smelt, or some “rare” lizard.
Good! Waive the entire EPA if our goal is to returning manufacturing to the USA. Let each State decide what is best for their citizens. California can increase the burden and starve, their choice.
