Idiocy like this is why the state is bankrupt and demanding bailouts from her saner siblings

My son says that one of the rules they didn’t like was what they couldn’t bring into the hotels. Evidently they are starting to designate outdoor areas where it is acceptable for them to pitch tents. They don’t want people in parks anyway, so why not give the parks to the homeless? We will never get them back.

Having volunteered extensively with homeless shelters over the past 30 years, you are exactly correct. It is not uncommon that a shelter would have empty beds for just the reason you stated. The problem is mental/emotional illness and or severe substance abuse (for the most part). Some, quite frankly, are just free spirits and don’t want any help. Anyhow...

I am told there are some good, well run public homeless shelters where there are rules & Christian guidance is stressed, but never heard of any of those in California. If they do exist there, how successful are they?

I was at the dentist office yesterday and he was complaining about all the homeless and their tents along Wilshire blvd. near Los Angeles. Beverly Hills and Bel-Air are nearby.
