The state fair is and always has been a big deal in Minnesota, and is an annual end-of-summer tradition for many people. It draws around 2 million visitors per year.

But this year, the fear put into people and organizations, not by the coronavirus, but by the scripted and orchestrated "reaction" to the coronavirus, has resulted in its cancellation.

Are all of the Walz voters happy now? Walz is trying to be the #1 dictator Governor - he might pass up Putzker and Gavin Newsom with this move.

I dearly hope that all the virtue signalers and panic merchants discover that their rash decisions end up killing off the events they claim to protect.

Let them explain it next year.

Yep. Locally, some small fairs that take place in Sept. have already cancelled. The very same people who say “I want to get back to normal” then cheer when these get cancelled. They will whine about how it is too dangerous to go to a fair or carnival, because of some scary “germs,” and yes they say germs not VIRUS, but can’t wait to go shopping.

All will say, well, we will have one next year and it will be so much better and memorable that we came tougher as a community and can celebrate.

I don’t think they realize that these events rely on a few weeks of revenue to pay bills for the entire year in many cases. All they see is 3-4 weeks of fair and not 11 months of payroll, insurance, utilities, maintenance, etc. and costs to plan next year.

I was right. The Gov is a Democrat. That explains a lot. In CT Amusement parks or similar can re-open June 20, originally Lamont had made it July 20 but the two largest parks reportedly said we can’t open for just a month, it’s not feasible and suddenly it was safe to re-open in late June.

Then just days ago before the Phase 1 reopen, smaller amusement places were told, oh, MiniGolf is safe to reopen in two days when they were originally told June 20 at the earliest. Since then they gave the go ahead for batting cages and an few others as well. I’m willing to bet the MN gov jerked them around like that and that was part of the reason, random rules/changes issued on a daily basis.

The Iowa State Fair is still on, but they will be making some kind of decision around the second week of June, which sounds ominously ambiguous.

You can’t catch the Wuflu from a giant butter cow or deep-fried Snickers, although the crowds in the animal barns and blue-ribbon winning food displays are worrisome.

We had a popular local fair canceled already and it wasn't until Labor Day weekend.

Remember Democrats who’s ruining your lives for a virus that has over a 99% chance of survival. Polls are open in November. Too bad for you Democrats aren’t opening your “Minnesota Big Government” state.

The more this goes on this becomes the BIGGEST HOAX in American history. Flame me and flame this!

America has evaporated over 22 TRILLION of economy for what? America is pretty close to ceasing to exist as the left and many on the right are steering the country into the oven.

The left never stops until they are punched hard or until they can't go further and then find another way. Why is the GOP so WORTHLESS? FIGHT!

Matt04, you are spot on, the minnesota state fair is no small bean, its 600 acres and tons of buildings and grounds to upkeep all year round. without the fair revenue, they may not be able to ensure the upkeep of all that. fwiw For those who dont think a state fair can be a big deal in a state..the Minnesota state fair attracts over 2 million people a year. ,I think they hit 3 mlion last year. thats a LOT OF FRIED CHEESE CURDS...

The MN state fair is nauseating. For weeks before it starts, all the press/tv can talk about is the fair. Then once it opens it’s wall to wall coverage of the fair. I will miss my opportunity to talk to Governor Walz. I have a few questions for him.

I would never say nobody should ever eat a deep fried snickers on a stick, I did and I still quiver when I think about it.

Not only are restaurants, carnies, betty’s pie, but the ...On a Stick company may have to file Ch13.

I really hope Trump finds a way to hold a rally. Maybe if he has it outside. It would really send a message.

The “Great Minnesota State Fair” or “The Great Minnesota Get-Together” as it’s variously known, is always 12 days long and always ends on Labor Day, so it’s still over three months away.
