WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court on Friday rejected an emergency appeal by a California church that challenged state limits on attendance at worship services that have been imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Over the dissent of the four more conservative justices, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court's four liberals in turning away a request from the South Bay United Pentecostal Church in Chula Vista, California, in the San Diego area.

Can we impeach Roberts?

Gee, thanks George W. Good to see all of the support conservatives threw your way is being repaid so handsomely. Your dad and David Souter must be looking down and smiling.

And yet... if the gay lobby had protested the shutting down of gay bath houses in the 80s why do I think Roberts would be out front with open arms waiting to hear this case.

Imagine of W. had been able to get Harriet Myers on the court? We'd have two of these clowns.

I will never vote for another Bush.

Roberts and his Gang of Four think it’s perfectly OK for the government to restrain the free exercise of religion.

The sooner Roberts is gone from the SC...the better!

Only his dad is currently looking down. Souter is still very much alive and is still doing damage as a retired justice by sitting and hearing cases in lower federal courts.

It seems like every time we think we have a 5-4 conservative majority on the court one will turn and it’s back to 5-4 liberal.

That is exactly what I am thinking. Didn’t Roberts read the Constitution? Hello, First Amendment.

Guess It’s time to implement the Second Amendment

That effort was when it finally dawned on me that Bush was a mental lightweight.

The Bush family Legacy continues to haunt the USA. I voted for that POS. I use to always vote for the Lesser of Two Evils RINO Republicans. Better a RINO than a Dem.
What I never considered is the distinction would over the years become less and less.
Now, it has deteriorated to the point they are one and the same. W, you will recall referred to Bill Clinton as his Brother from another Mother.
You have seen the numerous Pics of the Bush family with the Clintons and the Obama’s. Right?
You do recall that in 8 YEARS of Obama a Bush NEVER uttered a word.
But, under President Trump W is somewhat vocal and opinionated?

Over the dissent of the four more conservative justices

This must have been a petition on hearing the case outside the normal appellate process - otherwise 4 justices is enough to hear a case.

Roberts did a lot of pro-bono work for the first big case is modern homo advocacy. It was in Colorado

This sucks. I wonder how this affects Trumps getting involved and telling governors to let churches open. Although churches are partially open, not enough to really allow people back. Thousands were going to open, fully I believe, this weekend.

Just don't call it a worship service; call it a "protest." As we're seeing tonight, they can't disperse you then.
