With the smell of gun powder thick in the air, several hundred protesters threw fireworks and other explosives Saturday night at police while marching in Santa Ana, walking into traffic and shouting black lives matter in remembrance of George Floyd.
Some in the crowd at Bristol Street and Wilshire Avenue begged the rowdy demonstrators about 8:30 p.m. to stop hurling the explosives, saying, what are you accomplishing?
Michelle Usher stood in front of the officers shouting, Stop throwing things at these men! Nobody should get hurt here tonight. This is my city!
A man in the crowd who declined to give his name added that he worries for law officers and protesters, adding he hopes no one gets hurt.
Despite the repeated pleas from people in the crowd to be peaceful, the fireworks continued. Some protesters knelt before the police shouting, George Floyd, the man who died after a Minneapolis police officer jammed a knee into his throat.
A loudspeaker atop a police truck warned protesters they had 15 minutes to disperse and that force could be used on them.
Protesters standing less than 4 feet away from police continued to demonstrate, despite the declaration of an unlawful assembly. Officers began at 8:50 p.m. slowly pushing demonstrators onto the curb and away from the road.

I do like to praise those people for speaking out against violence...But, they should not expect those thugs to listen...Let's not be too naive...
There was some looting in Santa Ana...There were some arrests made...
People in Orange County, California, be careful...There are thugs down there also...Not just LA County...
In my opinion, there are many thugs in Santa Ana...I think that Santa Ana also has many illegal aliens...
According to 2010 Census, 78% of Santa Ana's population is Hispanic...9% of the population is White...10% of the population is Asian...
Thugs from South Central LA came up to Beverly Hills on Saturday...
It is possible for thugs, in Santa Ana, to go to Huntington Beach or Newport Beach and create problems...
Time to dispense with the rubber bullets.....
WHY rubber bullets.......use real force.
most of this is white trash ANTIFA..
Time to dispense with the rubber bullets.....”
That is a very big escalation and it’s probably what Soros wants.
RE: police not armed with live ammo....
No one is patting them on the back for restraint. No one.
Media starts with “peaceful, heartfelt and solemn protest led later into violent confrontations as police pushed against the demonstrators”. ————At the planned start of looting and burning that the rioters set up all day. Every time.
Do we think that girl smiling with expensive clothes from a women’s clothes store being looted just happened to turn criminal due to mean police pushing back? Not a chance.
So why look for sympathy from the media? Rubber bullets don’t impress anyone.
Should police be paid if the store owners lose all they have due to the gentle approach to rioter-felons? Why? To watch it all burn after looting? Their orders should be changed.
California is Toast.
So are a lot of other places. This so called protest is a farce.
The Cops should just stay home and walk backwards into the bank to cash their paychecks.
Geez, we’ll ok then, we better let them continue to riot and murder innocents, wouldn’t want to upset Soros.
How much more escalation do you want? They have already destroyed thousands of businesses.
The time for restraint is long over.
It’s now time to put police snipers on rooftops and start taking out the ones who are throwing bricks.
Yes spray them with Andy Gump (honey dipper)trucks
One good belt of straight tracers fired from an M249 or equivalent machine gun - just barely overhead - would change the equation instantly. Fire them into a wall - just to make the point.
Anyone still moving forward at that point loses their rights.
I get the sentiment but dead Americans lying I the street is what they want think Kent State. The fact that those NG troops were provoked big time is lost in history all anymore remembers is the dead college students.
There are no black people in Santa Ana
From personal experience, the LA Riots of 1992 didn’t end until the National Guard was issued ammo and they shot up the first few cars that tried to run the roadblocks/checkpoints.
I don’t see this ending soon any other way.
It looks like this will not end. The Left will keep encouraging the riots, hoping for a violent counter reaction, which will spark an all out civil war
In the 60s SDS and antiwar mobilization groups and others welcomed police brutality by agitating for it so nonviolent suburban clean cut kids would be "radicalized." They smiled about it. I had personal dealings with some of them.
So, give up all of America with rubber bullets, or make good people look like "meanies"and then "Protestors Dead." ((Kent State example. Iconic photo of girl crouching near fallen student and crying.))
I agree with you that the left is hoping for killings. They want an innocent, sweet looking college girl to be shot by a police bullet. And a black who was in law school felled by a shot. Their pictures all day and night as new martyrs.
By the way, if police continue to be nonlethal, the left will send its own disguised uniformed phony law enforcement officer to do the shooting and quickly get out of sight.
Norman Mailer's The Armies of the Night and Miamai and the Siege of Chicago had passages of plain clothes agitators who tried to involve him in a fistfight (then jail him and the cop would be let go quietly) and worse.
It will happen. But if we don't fight back, America is lost forever. Buildings, government leadership, police forces bombed or burned.
“...Time to dispense with the rubber bullets.....”
Waaaay past time. They need to go to good, old-fashion WWII-style flame throwers. Brunt Lives Matter!!!
Modern society is hypnotized by socialism. It is prevented by socialism from seeing the mortal danger it is in. And one of the greatest dangers of all is that you have lost all sense of danger, you cannot even see where it’s coming from as it moves swiftly towards you. - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Posts BUMP!
My personal experience was July, 1967 as a college student in Detroit.
We were allowed by Wayne State University to come to work or not as the burnings faded out. I delivered mail to campus buildings and we had a uniformed National Guardsman on the mail truck door step with his loaded rifle at a 45 degree angle looking upward. He reminded us “I’ll cover you but keep watching for snipers above you.”
At that age I thought it was daring and exciting.
My A&P grocery store burned totally and a national photo showed the light fixture hanging from a charred ceiling.
I spent a week on a roof with a rifle in LA in 1992. I got to see mobs in far more detail than I ever wanted to.
