Park Volunteer Outraged over Vandalism of Philadelphia Abolitionist Statue: ‘He Was BLM Before There Was A Slogan’
National Review ^ | June 11, 2020 | ZACHARY EVANS

Protesters have defaced a statue of Philadelphia abolitionist Matthias Baldwin, dousing it with paint and spray-painting the word “colonizer” on the pedestal.

It was not immediately clear if the protesters were part of an organized group such as Antifa. The graffiti has since been cleaned off the statue, as Joe Walsh, a member of the Friends of Matthias Baldwin Park, told National Review in an email. The statue itself stands outside Philadelphia City Hall.

The statue was vandalized at some point during the days of demonstrations that occurred in Philadelphia, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office said in an email.

Born in 1795, Baldwin moved to Philadelphia from New Jersey at the age of 16 and rose from an apprenticeship at a local jeweler to establish a successful business manufacturing train locomotives. Baldwin argued for the right of African Americans to vote in Pennsylvania during the state’s 1837 Constitutional Convention, and helped establish a school for African American children where he paid teachers’ salaries for years.

It looks like, to the left, anyone who is a statue must be somehow involved with slavery.

The "ACAB" graffiti is a clue to the identity of the perps: Used by anarchists, and punks[9] the phrase garnered wider mainstream attention in 2020 as a result of the killing of George Floyd and the protests that ensued following his killing.: A.C.A.B.

...anyone who is a statue must be somehow involved with slavery.

Great observation. Maybe some conservative groups should set up fake statues of Mr. and Mrs. Obama, have cameras ready, and see what happens. Destroy or worship (out of ignorance/evil) would be my guess. Then interview them, LOL.

AACB = ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS

By the way Barack Hussein Obama really WAS a bastard. His mamma and daddy had a fake marriage. Daddy had another wife which is bigamy or polygamy but whatever it was it was illegal and they only got “married” after she got knocked up.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Twitter feed includes a post from June 4 from a user replying to the police with the handle "bobbie ♡ 𝕒𝕔𝕒𝕓! 𝕓𝕝𝕞! 𝟙𝟛𝟙𝟚!" who has posted a photo of a statue surrounded by smoke from riots on their banner: PhillyPolice.

We are seeing on a larger scale than ever what ass hats look and act like. For a time it was confined to certain members of Congress.

Please don’t associate any of the Civil War era Statesmen
with BLM. What an insult to their character.

One Black man was killed by police, and all these riots and
mayhem followed.

Five Black people were kill during the riots, by the rioters.

Any concern for them? Crickets...

Any concern for the Black on Black crime in the U. S.?
Crickets...

Any concern for the Black Business owners whose financial
lives were destroyed? Crickets...

Any concern for the hundreds of thousands of Black lives
extinguished through abortion each year? Crickets...

No, please don’t compare the statesmen of old with these
hoodlum, Communist Anarchists.

And here's a Facebook post with the ACAB slogan by a group called Philly for REAL Justice that links to a bunch of other left-wing groups in the area and describes itself on its homepage as follows: "A collective of radical Black local organizations today announced a set of demands to the City of Philadelphia to defund police and end state violence against Black communities. Further roll out will continue online via social media and an online petitioning campaign. During this time of rebellion against police terrorism and state violence, we, the radical Black organizing community in Philadelphia, make the following immediately actionable demands upon the City of Philadelphia to abolish–by which we mean to permanently and holistically eliminate–the structures of policing and related state violence endangering our communities. Until our demands are met, we will be in the streets demanding justice for the Black community,” the statement of demands begins."

The Philly for REAL Justice website states on its resources page, "We understand that the abolition of police is also connected to every other part of the struggle for liberation, from housing to healthcare. As such, we continue to compile a list of resources for those most impacted by police violence to access. It is our hope that every community consider a similar model of pooling knowledge and resources to love and support each other." The home page praises Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur.

Collectivist Self loathing. Anyone with desire of immortality and putting value in lasting material is deemed a privileged individualist.

The contact person for Philly REAL Justice is one Deandra Jefferson, who represents a coalition to the left of Black Lives Matter that wants to abolish Philadelphia's police: Meanwhile, the Black Philly Radical Collective, a group of 12 organizations including Black Lives Matter Philly and Philly for Real Justice, want to go much further. The collective wants to prevent increases to the upcoming police budget, nearly $23 million in funds. All private police forces, including university and transit police, should be disbanded, they say. There are additional calls to replace the Police Advisory Committee with a Community Control Board that can hire and fire officers. The list goes on. Ultimately, King wants reforms for the existing department, the coalition is looking to defund and abolish the current system. . .In addition to the list of demands the collective laid out, it has been the stance of Black Philly Radical Collective not to coordinate protest routes with police during marches. “We’re not going to ask the same people that murder us, ‘Hey, is it ok if we protest you murdering us here and now?’” said Deandra Jefferson with Philly for Real Justice. “That just doesn’t make any sense, to ask for permission from the people who are the problem.”. . . Washington and Jefferson know there are several protests happening in Philly any given day and activists don’t want to discourage people from participating. The crux of the matter, said Jefferson, is people who want to lend support need to do their research and analyze the proposals different groups are putting out. Jefferson encourages anyone who wants to come out and march to “get their politics in order” and avoid the knee-jerk reaction to “run from march to march” because not all Black people have the same class interests. “Oprah’s not worried about this,” she explained. “Diddy’s not worried about this. There are certain people who, because of the socioeconomic class that they’re in, even though they’re Black, they don’t have the same motivations. They don’t want to completely overhaul the system because, individually, the system has treated them pretty well.”: BLM organizers: Double-check what demands protest is making

Jefferson looks to have ties to Temple University, where the coalition also has ties to a "pastor" named Renee McKenzie who shelters illegal immigrants as part of the New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia.

Here was the group's agenda in 2016, when they positioned themselves to the left of Bernie Sanders to "shut down the DNC": "Progressives, socialists, peace activists, feminists, environmentalists: Let's build a united front to take on the racist, capitalist Democratic war machine! The Presidential elections that take place every four years bring about only cosmetic changes: different faces running the government while the same billionaire masters still call all the shots. Whether it's Clinton or Trump, Democrat or Republican, police will still terrorize us and low wages will keep us in or near poverty. That is, unless we fight back! WE'VE HAD ENOUGH! No more fake "democracy" in our city! NOT while racist cops run wild. NOT while our public schools go criminally underfunded. NOT while our people suffer some of the highest pov...erty levels in the country. We demand self-government, not super rich capitalists. Free Mumia and all political prisoners! Reparations now! Women's and LGBTQ liberation now! Abolish capitalism and oppression NOW! It'll only happen if we FIGHT FOR IT!"
