Fifty-one percent of liberals and 45 percent of Democrats told a pollster that too few of their fellow liberal Americans are willing to fill construction, technology, hospitality, and other service jobs, regardless of pay.

Meanwhile, we are at full employment (until the virus hit)

Not only lazy, but inept.

They never learned how to build or to repair or any other manual labor.

Some because there was no father in the home, others because they were spoiled and never had to learn.

I have a worker who isn’t lazy, per se, but will never move beyond directly assigned tasks. Our goal when we he was hired was for him to take over the bulk of the administration and some leadership for one of my ongoing projects. It’s not happening. No initiative. No assertiveness. No willing to learn beyond what he is told. No willingness to develop soft skills or manage his personal life so it doesn’t interfere with work. I’m not talking about caring for a family member who is ill here or other serious life situations, but putting down the gaming console at a reasonable hour so he has enough sleep and time to groom before coming to work.

He does the work if there are clear directions (he won’t ask if something is confusing)and no layers of thought required. There is value to our team as I can shift enough tasks where managing all of my large scale projects is doable.

I can see how others would view him as lazy.

Industrial Contractors who build warehouses are turning down jobs due to labor shortages. Some warehouses are on a two year waiting list. Electricians and welders are impossible to find.

Lot of work waiting for workers.

There is a 1-2 day supply of houses in my area. Most houses have 4-6 bids by the end of the second day on the market. I am working 12-14 hours a day everyday in construction and am booked for a long time. I have raised my prices 4 times this year and am still below market price.

Just did a bid for $200 for a simple repair that will take 1.5 hours including getting parts. Another guy bid $500 and was only doing half of the repair I have bid. So $500 for 45 minutes work.

Never voted Democrat, most of my working days included a certain amount of dirty/unclean type jobs. That wasn’t the biggest problem. The biggest problem was the crappy pay system/lack of raises & this was a skilled industry. A lot of it seemed to be because of the area where I lived. Thankfully, I am retired now & it’s not a concern anymore.

Yeah, but he was just making federal jobs programs (WRA, CCC), ie. big govt powergrab, more palatable. He wasn’t advocating letting people sink or swim, and be dependent on true individual charity. He was creating entitlements.

True, but at least he admitted what people sitting around doing nothing would involve.

At that time, FDR, and many of his other contemparies were swayed by what Hitler was doing in Germany with their big public works programs.

He does know how to leave for lunch at the same time everyday even though it’s flexible to ensure we meet deadlines. Crazy part is if it’s a big deadline that occurs midday and we work past his normal lunch, I’m willing to give him a little extra time to wind down or buy him lunch. Because he hits that lunch hour that is his due, gets neither the time nor free food, just more crappy tasks.

And many of those jobs were keeping tabs on their neighbors, and their thoughtcrimes. Now, Soros, and other philanthropists provide grants for people to do that. Isn’t capitalism great?!

Liberals are defined by a love of novelty, the personality trait. It leads them to hate the familiar and “boring” and love the foreigner. It is racism and classism in one.
