Someone a while back wrote a good book about a first-hand inside look at how the Democrat Party volunteer program is a cult. True to cult members, there are those who push the dogma on others at the behest of the "leader".
They'll continue believing right through the negative effects unless deprogrammed, switching to another "belief system", or for the lucky ones, shown enough of the hypocrisy to have their own seeds of doubt.

“Going along to get along” is only required to keep one’s job. This has little bearing over what/how we teach the students. Teachers still have the freedom to alter specific lessons/units to ensure coverage of the standards, minus the propaganda (if they are so inclined).
