The new alliance between Holcombe Mixers, Fisher Sand and Gravel Co. and Caterpillar Inc. is the latest strategic collaboration to accelerate completion of the border wall.
Working with Holcombe Mixers has been a game changer, said Tommy Fisher, President and CEO of Fisher Sand and Gravel. We made a commitment to President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security, and the US Army Corps of Engineers to get the wall up faster, and do it financially smarter. Generally, youre pouring 2-5 loads per day. With Holcombe Mixers, we can pour 20-25 loads of fresh concrete each day and not have to worry about it exceeding required temperatures.
Pouring high volumes of concrete in remote areas with hot and arid climates like Arizonas creates extreme challenges to mitigate the concrete from setting up too quickly when mixed in a traditional drum mixer. Volumetric mixers from Holcombe are able to mix fresh concrete on site at the point of the pour. The low- and high ad-mixture systems add an additional layer of flexibility to ensure that the concrete being produced can be placed and finished in any extreme condition.
An element of control is key for a project that demands not only durability, but also the volume of fresh concrete that needs to be poured 16 hours a day, said Brent Holcombe, Managing Partner of Holcombe Mixers. Our 12-yard aggregate bins have supported a 120% increase to the standard payload where daily concrete pour goals can be achieved and ultimately surpassed. We are thrilled to be part of this visionary team effort.

They already have two recent contracts to deliver on in Arizona (from the Eastern and Western edges of the Tohono O'odham Nation Indian Reservation). They are down there now.
If they can crank out the miles faster, they stand a good chance of picking up some additional contracts. Looks like they are about to start racing.
They deserve TRIPLE pay working in that heat.
The Sonoran Desert is unGODly hot.
THIS kind of thing is that real Americans do . . . and it is but ONE of the reasons the USA is a GREAT NATION, I don’t care what sniveling, lying Commie Rats say.
I just love American ingenuity, that can-do spirit!
reminiscent of the building of the first transcontinental railroad.
“They deserve TRIPLE pay working in that heat.”
The annual monsoon rains start around the 4th of July (late afternoon gully washers most days), so they will be working around that as well.
16 hours a day, according to this press release.
I believe that there is incentive for early delivery in most/all the border wall contracts, that can fund overtime pay differentials. Out there in the middle of nowhere, there is not much else for the workers to do, so they might as well bank some extra pay. Everybody wins.
Fisher has some hilly terrain without good road on the Eastern side of the TON (42 miles), so they are going to need a solution for fast road building over on that side as well. Moving a lot of material is kind of Fisher’s strong suit, so it could be exciting to see them work.
“reminiscent of the building of the first transcontinental railroad.”
We are really hitting stride on building the Wall now (mile per day). They next eighteen months are already funded to keep smoking along like this, and even faster.
It is going to be glorious!
The biggest, most effective, non-Military border Wall in human history.
the drug cartel boys and coyotes will have to go back to shucking agave plants for tequila distilleries...
This country runs on laws that ARE obeyed...and that's compared to the messes they come from.
The American WHINERS who continually blame OTHERS for their own dissatisfaction about almost everything won't be happy with ANYTHING or ANYBODY.
Their problem is in their soul and ONLY our good Lord can help them there.
It's my fault.
It's Bush's fault.
It's Trump's fault.
It's Pope Francis' fault.
I read somewhere about those big Cats with precision handling accuracy cost a $mill each they must all have linked GPS to get those dead straight walls in place for miles at a time.

I think that a (the) major driver of the NAFTA replacement (USMCA) was to rip a lot of business out of China, and split it between (low wage) Mexico and (high skill) USA.
With more jobs in Mexico, there is less pressure for them to migrate here.
Similarly, there is a war of sorts brewing, to break the Mexican cartels, to address another structural pressure driving migration from Mexico to the USA - poor security.
Even stronger than the push to migration from cartel crime rates, is the pull to migration from the cartel’s human trafficking operations.
Those cartels need to be broken to secure the border, otherwise they will have (and use) the money for sophisticated methods of penetrating even the strongest border fortifications.
Thx for adding detail. Mexico became more cooperative a year ago with asylum, end of catch and release , ...
USMCA future plans were spelled out to them and they stopped being resistant and now helping us to break the back of China.
Another promise kept by Trump. Dang, he’s good at keeping promises. Others promise many things, but Trump fulfills his promises. Just like with moving our Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, stopping ISIS, rebuilding our military, getting out of the Paris Climate Change agreement, redoing NAFTA, and so many other projects. It is truly amazing to see what he has accomplished, especially in light of the unremitting opposition/resistance (including from inside the GOP, eg, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney et al).
That heat will keep a lot of the protesters away.
Amazing technology to be so efficient
I keep hearing them use the term: trump time
Where do they source their water for the mix?
