"This far, I've seen two patients <40 die, 5 get intubated and 15 sick enough to get monitored in the unit. Of those 15, six had no readily apparent risk factors (including one who died) and 9 did (usually obesity and/or diabetes). To answer your question on a macro level though, your risk as a truly healthy young adult is very small. The caution I use there is about half of that group that perceives themselves as young and healthy actually have a health risk factor, either undiagnosed or ignored in their calculation. For instance, there's a TON of undiagnosed hypertension in the 35-40 age group.

Millions of people die of the flu every week, what’s the big deal?

If your post isn't sarcasm it's total unadulterated bullsh!t

518,000/52 = 9,961 per week

Why is it stupid? Your chance of dying if you are young and healthy are near zero. Once you have been exposed you should be able to freely live your life. People have take much larger risks to preserve freedom.

Plenty of us are old enough to remember deliberate expose to measles and mumps by our parents.

What’s stupid is too late the threat of a mild virus rule your life. The virus isn’t going away and the chance of a vaccine are low. You can’t hide from it the rest of your life.

Didn't read the article. Did they describe the treatment he received?

Did they give him The Trump Regimen or did they just watch him die?

There aren’t two types of cases but rather a virtually endless array of case presentations. Most viral respiratory illnesses have a wide range of disease severity. The primary issue with COVID is not that there aren’t a bunch of mild cases (there are) but that more patients are progressing to severe disease compared to other viral respiratory infections.

For example, some people do progress to severe viral pneumonia and ARDS with the common cold (rhinovirus, HMV, Cocksakivirus, etc.). It’s not common but it does happen, generally in the severely immunocompromised and those with transplanted or very diseased lungs. A greater number of people progress to this stage with influenza, and a greater number than that from COVID, etc. At the top of the chain you have stuff like MERS with a 50-70% progression to ARDS and a 35% mortality. All of these disease also cause very mild cases as well however and everything in between.

“You can’t hide from it the rest of your life.”

They were actively seeking it. Living your life is fine but to purposely catch it so you can make a political statement is stupid, stupid, stupid...

I listened to Gov Ron DeSantis press conference today. The doctor at the presser said that younger people were being hospitalized for covid and their morbid obesity and diabetes was the common underlying health condition.

How may young people ha e died at that hospital this year from other various infectious diseases? Car wrecks? Accidents, drownings?

Great point. No big deal next time I’m invited to a “car wreck party”, or an “accident party” or “drowning party” — equally sensible themes — these things are unavoidable if you attend a party! As the song says, “you gotta fight for your right to party”.

The problem is that many young think they are inherently healthy based on age

This guy is 28 years old. He refused to wear a mask in CA. Went partying and drinking with his friends. He now has Covid. His GF has it. His 6 buddies have it. (they might be over it and I missed the post)

https://twitter.com/AltitudeChaz

He has had very little problem with it. Lost his sense of taste and smell. Said he started coughing up thick stuff after running about a mile so he was going to cut back his two mile running

I find it hard to believe he is in the healthy category. Very hard drinker. Parties very hard A LOT. Hard weed smoker. Lives life on the edge

Yet, his body battled it just fine. He even went out shopping right after he learned about it..spreading it around

The truth is no one really knows what is going to happen to them until they get it and their body takes on the fight.

“ ‘Just before the person died they looked at the nurse and they said, ‘I think I made a mistake. I thought it was a hoax but it’s not,”

And none of the patients family were there to hear that, and is this what you would say with your last breath? (which of course was through that ventilator that prevents you from talking at all)

KEEP FEAR ALIVE!

Those of us who oppose the heavy handed lockdown and the contradictory information don’t think covid is a hoax.

I know viruses are real and can kill. I just don’t want to shit the country down and curtail civil liberties over it.

I've never heard of a teen-aged high school football player dying from an undiagnosed heart problem, or an aneurysm. All stupid teenagers are subjected to thorough and frequent physical exams, on a monthly basis. Any problems are quickly spotted.

Oh, wait...

I asked a doctor today how long he thought the COVID-19 pandemic was going to last

He said, ‘how the hell should I know, I’m not a f#$##### politician’

“ Earlier this month, reports out of Tuscaloosa in Alabama quoted government officials as saying college students there were holding COVID parties with cash prizes being offered. Attendees put money in a pot that was awarded to the person who became infected first.”

WELL......we’re waiting.....
