I do NOT want to play poker against those people. :>)

But they allowed themselves to be surprised by an armed mob within days and blocks of previous rioting - very foolish, but they got very, very lucky. Let that be a lesson to everyone else - make sure that you have at least one firearm that is in perfect working order, that you’re well-trained with, and which is either loaded or has magazines (plural) or speed loaders (plural) within a foot or two of it. Having a long gun almost always beats a handgun in terms of intimidating/running off groups.

How would a functioning and a loaded gun have affected the outcome?
Would the mob have known they were functioning guns or not? The results would have been exactly the same and possibly even worse by them shooting one of thise clowns. In which case Kim Gardner would be doing her best to string em up.

The difference is that you don’t go into a possibly lethal confrontation with guns that either don’t work or are unloaded.

That they bluffed and won - the mob didn’t attack them - is just pure, dumb luck. I might gamble a few dollars on pure, dumb luck like the roll of some dice or a roulette wheel, but I won’t do that with my life.

I will never intentionally or knowingly strap on a handgun without it being in good working order and loaded. What they did was careless as Hell - but I’m glad that they got lucky. Luck, like hope, is not a plan.
