Re: Malgear
Lots of things people buy are now capable of being Malgear due to the steadily increasing capability of cheap chips. All sorts of smart home stuff, lightbulbs, doorbells, etc. Computer mice. Bluetooth gear of all sorts, like keyboards. And of course network gear. The list goes on and on.
It would not be a bad thing if the FedGov were to set up a Computer Security group to monitor and test for this. There are plenty of existing agencies such a function could operate under.
Malgear = contaminated Covid tests and masks that China sold us.
No, during the Cold War, "dual-use" meant a piece of equipment that had both a legitimate civilian use and a military use. Like the CNC milling equipment that Toshiba sold to the USSR that could be used to manufacture tractor parts, and to manufacture ultra-quiet submarine propeller blades.
Good reasons to continue to avoid all Smart house devices.
Good exercise to get off my keister to adjust the thermostat or dim the lights. I’ll hang on to my old fashioned garage door remotes too.
So how will these actions effect congressional pay?
