The next justice will be key in cases regarding assault weapons bans, carry bans, California and other blue state restrictions, etc. NRA will oppose nominee unless they are sold. I agree.
She will not garner a single vote in Trump’s favor for the reason she is from S. Florida. That’s a fact. I live in S. Florida. 98% of Floridians have never heard of her. Also a fact, 99% have no idea what her judicial philosophy is/would be. No Harriet Meijers, please. Better to think long-term for the job.
Notice that NONE of the reasons presented in the Tweet mentions judicial philosophy or the constitution. It’s all about ethnicity and how it will benefit Republicans among Hispanics and the crucial state of Florida. Is that all we have for Judge Lagoa? What happens to the SCOTUS after she’s confirmed and long after the 2020 elections are over?
Look, judge Amy Coney Barrett’s judicial philosophy is well known.
She’s a staunch constitutionalist near the mould of Antonin Scalia.
We also know that she is pro-life and was mercilessly grilled and attacked by Dianne Feinstein. That’s why I like her.
Barbara Lagoa on the other hand was easily confirmed, which tells me that Dems don’t seem to have a problem with her. Her judicial philosophy is also not much known. Will she turn out to be a female version of John Roberts?
Give us Judge Barrett and make the leftists weep!
I don’t think there are many Cubans in FL who don’t already vote conservative. Certainly the more established, professional Cubans vote R. I’m not certain how the more recently migrated Cubans vote. I’m surrounded by them in a working class (blue collar) neighborhood...maybe I’ll ask.

As a woman, I hate to say it, but I think he will appoint another woman. Wisconsin has ONE man on our Supreme Court and the rest are females. It’s holding for now, by a conservative THREAD, but I wish it wasn’t becoming a ‘Girls Club!’
That said, if it has to be a woman, I want Amy Coney Barrett. The Dems don’t like her, so that speaks volumes. ;)

I am doubtful that Trump will pick domeone from Florida in order to win Florida. Why? It just doesn’t work. Did anyone in Georgia vote for George the Elder because of Clarence Thomas? Did anyone from Arizona switch votes from Mondale to Reagan because Sandra Day O’Connor is from Arizona?
No. He is likely to pick a female, and Lagoa being of Cuban extraction doesn’t hurt (though that doesn’t necessarily impress Mexicans or Puerto Ricans, either). Amy Jackson Barrett will motivate the pro-life base, and possibly overstimulate the uglies in the Democrat party.
Hold on, this is a doozy. Trump should nominate Obama then sit back to what the Libs either try to destroy Obama or themselves for having to support Trump’s nominee. Never happen but would be fun to watch the exploding heads.
