Reflections on Judging: A Conversation with Amy Coney Barrett

40 minute video from Hillsdale College with lots of information regarding her judicial philosophy and how she came to believe in originalism.

Perhaps she thinks it’s better to let a guilty man go free than an innocent man to be punished. Capital punishment is so. . .final. (I’m for it though.)

I’ll gladly trade Capital Punishment for Banning Abortion.

I’m actually surprised he went with her, since he usually does a head-fake when it comes to the left.

One thing I don’t like is she seems to be against capital punishment.

I feel ya' however there are too many instances where zealous prosecutors and police have railroaded the innocent. Don't forget how Kamala Harris withheld exculpatory information for a guy while serving in California.

There's no cure once a person is dead.

Like Scalia, for whom she once clerked, she is a committed Roman Catholic as well as a firm devotee of his favored interpretation of the Constitution known as originalism. Those qualifications delight many on the right but dismay liberals and others who fear her votes could result in the chipping away of some laws, especially the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

In other words, liberals are afraid people will learn that a hell of a lot of government and laws are unconstitutional.

Roe v. Wade Was very bad law when it was declared “law of the land”, and in its way, is supported in much the same way the Dredd Scott v. Sandford was in 1857. That decision, of course, made the Civil War almost inevitable, because it declared a certain demographic to be ineligible “forever” for US citizenship. This struck the conscience of citizens loyal to the Constitution right to the core, and for what were rightly moral and just reasons.

The advocates of abortion are in much the same position as the slaveowners of the Southern states below the “Mason-Dixon” line in 1860. They do NOT have the moral capital to impose their will upon those who do not believe in any virtue to abortion.

Wonderful pick. Brains she was always #1 in her class at hs, college, law school. Beautiful. Kind. Humble. Loving wife and mother. Loves and respects her parents. Her dad, Mike, was an attorney for Shell.

She is right out of central casting.

I Was not surprised at all and was already expecting it. She was already on Trump’s short list after Justice Kennedy retired. She visited the White House at least 3 times after Ginsburg’s passing... a sure sign that she was being interviewed and prepped.

I don’t recall how many times since 1973 the rats simultaneously controlled Congress and the Presidency, but they’ve certainly had the opportunity to pass abortion as a law.

Well, they didn’t, and the whole thing rides on the thin gruel of horribly written Roe v. Wade.

If called upon to do so, Notorious ACB will shred the non-existent logic of Roe to pieces.

All good and acceptable but another voice to shatter glass....I had to leave the room after she started speaking. There are too many on TV with that wretched speaking voice - check out FOX for the worst ones..glad she’s going to be in the USSC and not on the news...we’ll never have to hear her; we can read her opinions. For the confirmation hearing, guess I’ll just have to mute her answers...

RE: I dont like her. I dont trust her..2 black kids from haiti..alarm bells

What’s your problem with her adopting two black kids? And what business is that of yours? And what does it have to do with her judicial philosophy?

You’ve been posting your dislike of her black adoption in other threads as well, What’s your agenda newbie?
