It’s great that Mrs. Barrett has been chosen to replace the recently departed Mrs. Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.

It’s done. Now for several weeks parody of The Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner show starring the Democrats. I foresee lots of desperation, and really underhanded dirty tricks. They will use everything including the scum from the bottom of the bag to try to prevent Mrs. Barrett from being seated.

“Two black kids from Haiti” is practically common practice in my Christian circles.

Sometimes there is secondary infertility; sometimes there is just a desire to “give back” and help by parenting a child from some—shall we say delicately—shithole country.

Why would adopting two children from Haiti set off alarm bells?

RE: Scalia’s equal? Turns out he was a scummy pedophile.

You better park your keyboard where your mouth is. You are slandering the good name of a departed Justice we all respect.

One more outburst like that and I’ll have to report you to the FR Moderator.

“”It’s just not the Supreme Court’s business to create laws legalizing abortion for the whole country, even for states that don’t want it. “”

That’s why it was so wrong what they did years ago...Give it back to the states and be done with it. What would be the liberals beef then?

Scalia’s letter of recommendation stated, “Amy Coney Barrett is the best student I ever had.”

Since my kids are still locked in their rooms all alone on Zoom, and shut out of public schools (and even private schools) here in the tyranny of California—I think that if education can be left in the hand of the states, then abortion can too.

Surely education is of higher importance, and yet it isn’t federally protected either, clearly.

liberals and others who fear her votes could result in the chipping away of some laws, especially the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

I hope for more than simply "chipping away" at Roe v. Wade; I hope it gets blown to hell in a handbasket!

Let us hope, when she is confirmed, she maintains her constitutional originalism.

+1 .

This is what they said about Gorsuch, and then he made sex discrimination about trannies.

We have no idea what ACB will do on the bench. We can't keep trusting.

originalism, a concept that involves justices endeavoring to decipher original meanings of texts

Yes, because the constitution was written thousands of years ago in an ancient lost language of hieroglyphs, on tattered and incomplete scrolls that only a select few can decipher and divine.

Originalists FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL INTENT. They don't make it up, reinterpret it, or treat the constitution as a "living document" where rights can be created or destroyed at the whim of the court.

RE: We have no idea what ACB will do on the bench. We can’t keep trusting

Presidents are NOT God. They are not omniscient. Therefore, because of this human limitation, they can only do the best they can based on a person’s background, record, known personality, and recommendations from people he trusts. Otherwise, what other tools can he use to vet a candidate? Some amount of faith and trust have to be eventually exercised.

Based on this, Amy Coney Barrett is from what we know so far, and as far as we can tell, an outstanding pick.

Could she disappoint? Sure, that’s a possibility. But that is true for every judge one picks. Given the time constraints and the political nature of things, you have to weigh everything, pros and cons and come up with what you think is the best candidate. Worrying about what could or might possibly happen is tantamount to paralysis by analysis. Trump doesn’t have the luxury of overthinking things.

You should move out of that shithole state to somewhere that opened private schools.
