VP Pence Surprises Prayer March to Say ‘Thank You’
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association ^ | September 26, 2020 | Trevor Freeze

Tens of thousands of people swarmed the Lincoln Memorial, all with one common goal—to pray for our nation.

So, it was quite a surprise, when one of the very people to be lifted up on Saturday afternoon by a sea of Christians gathering together from across the country, slipped in just as the Washington Prayer March 2020 began:

Appearing from stage right—catching everyone off guard—Vice President Mike Pence.

And the vice president came to say one thing to the prayer warriors flanking the National Mall:

“I just want to say ‘Thank you for your prayers,’” he said. “And the president wanted to be here to simply say, ‘Thank you for your prayers.’”

For it is a nation of praying people who have sustained our country.

“When the president and I travel around the country,” the vice president continued, “the sweetest words we ever hear, and we hear them a lot, when people reach out and simply say ‘I’m praying for you.’”

Vice President Pence gave several examples of the importance of prayer and the leadership of a country.

George Washington often prayed for the leaders of the country and each state with an “earnest prayer” Pence said. Abraham Lincoln has been quoted in the White House saying, “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction I had nowhere else to go.”

And that’s exactly what drove so many to the nation’s capital on Saturday, just six weeks before the election and at a time when the country seems more divided than ever.

“In these challenging times, we are to remember that in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, we are to present our requests to God,” he said.

“The Bible tells us to persevere in prayer. That the prayer of the upright pleases Him. That the effect of the fervent prayer of the righteous people availeth much.”

Vice President Pence closed his short address to the crowd, leading them in a familiar verse, 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“And when you pray, pray with confidence,” he said. “We stand today on an ancient promise that Americans have claimed throughout history, that if His people who are called by His name should humble themselves and pray, He’ll hear from heaven and He’ll heal this land.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is a surprise.”

Very cool. And no teleprompter.

The MSM wasn’t there, so it never happened. My sister and I were there so the MSM is wrong (shocking, I know). Didn’t even see any local news there. Granted there were over 50,000 people there and The Mall if big, so maybe I just didn’t see them. More than likely, they just weren’t there. 50,000+ people is a pretty good turnout for a very short notice event, by the way.

our church had a prayer vigil all day from 9am to 9pm, streaming the feed from Washington.
You are right, the uneducated masses won't see it, but church going, God fearing folks did thru their local churches (I hope)

My wife and I went to the Prayer March. It sounded as if Franklin Graham had no idea Pence was joining them. The crowd was so large I couldn’t even see where Pence and Graham were standing at the Lincoln Memorial.

Rumor had it that the Park Service did not allow them to bring in Porta Potties. There was a bathroom building there with a line a good 500 long. In the men’s room, only one stall was operational. The other three stalls and two other urinals were broken.

My wife said the women’s room had two working units.

LOL!!! My wife and I would attend some of these events if it were not for the bathroom facilities. These days the old bladder isn’t the best and I don’t do Depends-at least not yet. :O)

Pro Tip. Pop a couple Immodium AD just before leaving the house. Kind of limits the necessity for a day or so.

I watched it via live stream for most of the day yesterday. It was awesome and awe inspiring which is definitely an under statement. I celebrate a saturday sabbath so the live event was perfect for the eve of Yom Kippur eve.

It was exactly what the great physician ordered.

I was at the march. People in the crowd couldn’t believe it - and although it was a “non-political” event, you can bet there were a lot of Trump supporters who walked away satisfied.

Interestingly enough, there was one girl in a Black Lives Matter bike who was riding up to us. As soon as Pence started speaking, I looked back, and she was gone.

The other three stalls and two other urinals were broken.

In so called first world nation ...forget about bridges, airports .. this basic infrastructure is also crumbling in nations capital.

on the other hand govt is pissing off millions/billions of dollars for bullsxxt like diversity training, title VII, title IX, etc.
