Belll Labs started this whole techno boom with the discovery of the transistor, went crazy after that
I read an article in an electronics mag, decades ago, before the Internet, where the writer said that the transistor should have been developed in the late 1800’s, well before the vacuum tube. The semiconducting properties of silicon, germanium and other metals was known then, and physicists would have known the principle laws of electronics.
I have imagined that God had a hand in slowing the development of solid state electronics to keep mankind from destroying himself too soon.
Imagine the outcome of WWI if the world had had the technology ow WWII two decades early.....................
Actually the round trip time earth-to-moon-to-earth is about 2.5 seconds. So figure one-way 1.3 sec including a few hundred millisec worst-case for conditioning, processing, routing and so on, as a minimum.
