No worries boss.
I know it’s really tough times so I though I’d pitch in.
Been praying for all of you. Difficult time.
I totally agree. Unfortunately you and I and many others often seem to swim against the tide when it comes to pointing out some of the ridiculous vanities, blogs, fake news stories, BOOM articles, etc that gets posted here.
Then there’s humblegunner. Look at the grief he gets on a daily basis for railing against the BS.
Well, in your post (comment #53), the "Receipts & Pledges to-date: $54,766" link goes to "https://freerepublic.com/donate/" and works.
However, on the actual forum page, the "Receipts & Pledges to-date: $56,261" link goes to "https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/" and DOES NOT work. It says that "secure.freerepublic.com" does not exist or can't be reached.
I've tried it in Firefox and Chrome, same result.
No, the link that fails is the one that says "Receipts & Pledges to-date: $xx,xxx" (amount varies). The other links appear to work. The problem seems to be that the failing link goes to "secure.freerepublic.com" which does not exist or is unreachable. The ones that work go to "freerepublic.com"
most welcome
secure.freerepublic.com hasn't worked here in years. Jim changed it to freerepublic.com quite a while back.
When John had to migrate the software it must have copied that old link
Thanks guys, yer doing a great job!
My heartfelt, sincere condolences to you over the loss of Sheila.
The last thing you need to worry about is bickering over donations.
Unable to connect
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at secure.freerepublic.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I'm sure John will be able to make the correct address come up when clicking on that link as soon as he can get to it.
Never surrender.
That would certainly explain it. Thanks!!
Done.
So posting from the mainstream media is not âÂÂBSâÂÂ. YouâÂÂre ok with posting from CBS, NBC, CNN, NYTimes, Wash Post. But you call alternative sites, BS? Kinda like Jack at Twitter?
humblegunner deserves every bit of criticism he gets. People should check their sources and avoid posting so much silly BOOM and gloom, but he goes way overboard with his nastiness and also lumps far too many legitimate tweets, blogs, etc. together. It’s 2020 and far too much real news happens on non-traditional sites and social media. I hate that it’s a reality, but it IS the reality and it does no good to pretend otherwise. And that’s all I’ll say about that on this otherwise positive thread.
Thank you for this post, Mariner. People really need to check the legitimacy of their sources.
And yes, everyone who can needs to donate to keep this great site alive!
Thank you very much, Fiddlstix!!
Woo hoo!!
And this just in:
$50.00 from Utah
$20.00 from Washington
$20.00 from Maryland
$10.00 from Massachusetts
$50.00 from Arkansas
$10.00 monthly from Missouri
$50.00 from Georgia
$250.00 from California
Thank you all very much!!
FReepers are the absolute greatest!!
God bless.
There are multiple reputable sites. Breitbart, Red State, so many more. There are also good tweets to be posted, like from POTUS etc. Rarely a blog putting up clickbait.
But there is a multitude of crap on the right, just like there is on the left.
Use your discernment.
There is no requirement or admonition to post only from the MSM, in spite of your attempt to confuse the issue.
And I’m not the boss anyway. I am not in a position to tell you what to post/not post.
