Ha, ha! Cats!

I never really liked cats, MHG. They seemed too slick and sly for me. Like they were plotting against humanity all the time.

BUT.

A few months back I was taking out some trash and heard a little mewl nearby. When I turned over the trash can, a little bitty kitty came out. The poor thing was just a wee baby, all skin and bones, with her hair all matted.

It took over an hour of coaxing, but I finally got her inside. Fed her, held her, and felt so sorry for her. I really didn’t think she’d make it.

Weeks later and some hundred dollars in, the nightmare came when it dawned on me that eventually I would have to trim her nails. I’m kind of brave, but uh uh, not that kind of brave. Nooo. And she wasn’t going for it at all when I tried it the first time. I ended up bloodied and she with her first bit of hatred in her little heart. So, after more money spent on a cat tote (zippers every where to get to the footsies, etc.), a muzzle (ha, ha, ha) and some other items that were costly and just as useless, I finally hit on something that worked: a lick mat with sweetened condensed milk on it. Redneck ingenuity!

She’s fine now and her nails stay trimmed. She is so beautiful and such a joy for me and my dog. She’s all black but for a white spot under her chin. Soft, fluffy and beautiful. And she does really crazy things that make me laugh! I’ve had to push her back often when she’s tried to join me in the bath. I leave a little water in it for her to play in after I’m done.

Almost all of my plants are dead, a lot of my clothes have runs in them, and I’ll be replacing most of the upholstery soon, but I love the little darling!

And to think, my precious little Bella started life in the trash can.

My Abby came around mewling when she was so tiny and hungry. The Big Boys (two rescue fixed males, one a fluffy Grey the other an orange rodent murderer, both very large) brought her to the porch from somewhere. She followed them to my home and it took a few days to realize she was hnging out on the front porch with Big Marky Dia.

well now she's two years old and the absolute possessor of my heart. She is such joy running through the house, up the stairs with Marky chasing, then down the stairs chasing Marky. Happy cats play, regardless of their age.

I have ac2quired a watering jug that holds three gallons per fill up,and have stationed a couple of 15pd bags of food under the desk in the kitchen, for when the Rapture removes me from taking care of them. The two litter boxes are large but would be overflowing in a week, so whoever enters after the Rapture will have some greeting!

BTW, the water jug lasts just over thirty six days with three grown cats. All three have me trained to open the door for them when they want to do their business.

That is too cool, MHG!

Had me rolling at “orange rodent murderer.” Ha, ha!

Chuck Missler’s daughter once asked him if there were cats in heaven. He replied, “Of course. Where do you think the harp strings come from?”
