Not only does the name have the word "choke" in it (not a good motivating factor for a sports team) but I'm sure their competition and opponents quake in their boots when the Aritchokes show up.
More like bending over laughing their asses off.
I remember when (years ago) Rush would pick NFL match-ups based on the team with the more PC mascot. Obviously, the Chiefs vs. the Forty-niners was a no brainer. Who would have thought we would be here today?
I see your Artichokes, and raise you the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs.
Yep and they were proud to be called the Chinks!
Well they could have been the chickenchokers.
Suggestion box is now open. LOL!
And in professional sports, there are such names too.
Dallas Cowboys is offensive to real cowboys
Green Bay Packers is offensive to real meat packers.
Pittsburgh Steelers is offensive to real steel workers.
Milwaukee Brewers is offensive to real beer brewers.
And exactly who does USA Today think it is? Official arbiter of school names? It’s nothing but a mediocre lib rag, best suited to line cat litter boxes. No one has been admitted to a hospital or psych ward because of “school name trauma”, nor do I expect any new patients of such to be so stricken. This is just a heaping pile of baloney designed to negate our history, good and bad. Schools and statues of very notable figures, good and bad, serve to remind us of our history, of greatness and mistakes. To replace those with relative nobodies, just because they are black or some other minority, is celebrating mediocrity and playing down greatness-—exactly the tenets of communism, where everyone must be the same—no highs and no lows.
How about “ungrateful Teens”
Our high school team was the Scots, and I know I never reached my full potential as a human due to the trauma that inflicted on me.
Nobody is upset about this other than white progressive American elites. You know, the ones looking to make issues where there are none so they can save us and be a hero.
But wouldn't that have been offensive to those chickenchokers amongst us?
Happy New Year.
But what the phuque is a banana slug?
Down in the Bootheel of Missouri, back in the day, the kids started back to school some time in July and then would get several weeks off in August for ‘Cotton Picking Vacation’. (I may have the months wrong). The woman who told me about this could have been the girl in the photo. Poorer people black and white could use the extra income that even kids could help provide.
Absolutely. My mom grew up on a cotton farm in Alabama during the depression. Her and her 5 siblings probably picked as much or more cotton than any black person ever has. My grandfather started out pulling logs out of the swamps for 50 cents a day. He saved his money, lived poor, bought little bits of land, and died in 1960 owning 480 acres of land. He was known for walking four miles into town on Saturday instead of taking the wagon so that his mule would be fresh for Monday morning. This is why “white privilege” is a farce.
Own it damn it! 🐓🙏
A banana slug is like a garden slug, but much bigger. They have a lot of them around Santa Cruz.
Are you sure about the location? The Navajo Reservation is in mostly northeast Arizona, with smaller parts in west New Mexico, and some in southeast Utah. It's quite a ways from the Mexican border. I visited their capitol at Window Rock, AZ. while on a Run For The Wall back when still riding motorcycles.
They lined the streets waving American flags as our Run made its way to Window Rock. They couldn't be more gracious and accommodating. It was a wonderful experience. They had a color guard for their Nation and then a color guard for American military. As you know, the Navajo Code Talkers were highly instrumental in winning the island hopping with the Marines in the Pacific Theater.
